Any way to stop comments on site?

Hey guys, it is now so very frustrating getting constant email notifs for comments in my inbox plus also I have over 400 posts waiting for approval which I have to delete 20 at a time.

No way to filter out or stop this please?

Have you considered disabling comments on your blog all together? Comments on a blog are not necessary, look at the success of Seth Godin's blog, it has no comments.

You can also try out Disqus comments if spam comments are the problem.

[QUOTE=Steve L;11429778]Yes best I disable I think as not a single comment is genuine.

If you're on Wordpress, use Jetpack combined with Akismet and you will be perfect. Does a great job and stopping the spam.

You can disable the comments from your Wordpress dashboard. Just go to setting and click discussion option. Here you can disable the comments or limit it, You can also Unselect the option of sending an email when a comment is dropped on your post. If Spam comment is your problem then you can use Askimet or use the Disqus comment system.

Way I am seeing it is if I should check the "Allow people to post comments" box, this will then allow them to do so therefore leaving all of those fields unchecked should be the way to do this?

Every site should use protection from sperm comments, otherwise, you run the risk of baby websites springing up.

It's all I ever use. Have never had an unwanted comment appear on any of my sites.

Deleting what's already there and choosing to prevent new ones are two different settings.

With some themes you may have to turn off comments in each post. You can probably find a plugin to do it globally for you. You can also remove the comment section in your theme files if you know what you are doing.

Right. He's giving all indications of having that level of expertise. There's lots of things you can do if you know what your doing.
