Are Amazon sales dead ??

Not sure if I am posting in the right place but Amazon seems to be a little dead for me. I do only books and I've had slow days and slow months but this is ridiculous. I have days where sales appear to be dead !! I have a 2,000 inventory with FBA and another 100 books with Merchant. Only 3 books have been sold today. I have a repricer and my prices are either the lowest or the second lowest and good rankings. Pretty sure that isn't the problem. What's going on with Amazon ? I'm seeing this all over and I am experiencing it too. Any idea if things will go back to normal or is it just a slow month for me and other? But I wouldn't even consider this slow.. This is insane.. haha. Sorry for my complaining. I'm just a little worried as I've been doing this since March and it had never been this bad.

I personally never made money with Amazon, but I know some people who does. Some are complaining about the commission not being too good though.

When you say go back to normal, what is normal? You say only 3 books were sold today, compared to what. How many do you normally average per day?

May be its Q 4 and customers are holding back and waiting for the discounts to kick in. Normally people tend to buy consumer electronics, clothing and household stuff at this time of the year. May be you have recently made any changes to your listing or the repricer is just not pricing well? Remember, lowest price doesn't guarantees the buy box. Track you competitors!

The high-risk, high-reward world of selling stuff on Amazon

Amazon's scale and open platform have drawn legions of vendors like Kazmi looking to turn cheap goods into a decent living. Amazon doesn't disclose how many sellers operate on its platform beyond saying "millions," but chief executive Jeff Bezos wrote in his most recent letter to shareholders that the company added 300,000 in 2017 alone

I think it's a trend. I've seen many people complaining about this as well as Amazon competing with them directly through their private label offerings.

I write crime novels and I'm interested in finding affiliates to promote my books. I see from the conversation that Amazon might reward such effort with, like, 4%. I think people would deserve 10 times that! Is that legal? Can I have a private arrangement to top people's earnings up??

If you are selling paperbacks and hardcovers you are probably now losing sales to Kindle and possibly audio books. These are relatively new trends that are continuing to grow.

Anytime I read a post title like this one ... claiming this or that is dead ... I cringe. Is the company not making any sales today? Have they closed their doors to the public as a sign that they no longer want to sell you something?

    Hardly ... especially this company.

No, Amazon sales are not dead. That's not to say that your sales may be dying. What controls have you set up in order to compare your selling in the past month, 3-months, 6-months, and a year? Even if you don't have data for this type of an analysis, you can always follow general sales trends online to see how you compare with the norm.

The fall tends to be a rather slow sales period for most websites. That said, I agree with "SiteNameSales". I probably purchase one hardcover or paperback book for every 25 Kindle versions that I purchase.

The best way to answer your question buddy: the owner of Amazon is the richest person in human history, over $100 billion dollar. Amazon is doing A-OK; keep creating, keep connecting, be patient and your sales will increase.

I would definitely come up with a tracking sheet, so you can compare weekly and month to month sales. I sell books on Amazon and I go through spells. 4th quarter sales are normally more than the other three quarters combined.

Physical books are seasonal - they are either the kind of thing you can put under the tree at Christmas or something that can easily be marked up when studying. So Q4 tends to do well and August (when University students begin school). I see more and more folks moving to Kindle (as already stated). I also have noticed a movement to audio books as they can be listened to in the car, on the treadmill and on the train. So as with all items to sell, focus on a specific niche.

Do not put all your eggs in one basket. Start diversifying by selling on other platforms like Ebay, Etsy, Craigslist, Offer Up, Let Go, Mercari, Shopify Website, and consider selling other types of products besides books.

Amazon is cleaning out the garbage, and its effecting all self publishers. It's probably going to be the biggest wave of issues, but I believe now is the best time to publish.

Also, if you had books that sold well, try running some adds.
