  • I think traditional one.
You may do digital with no funds.

  • This is a very vague question.

What kind of tradition marketing? magazine? tv? radio? billboard? etc?

What about digital? Affiliate? Paid traffic? PPC? Banner ads? mobile? etc?

    • Thanks for the reply. Yes! your conception is right. Traditional and digital marketing means conventional and online marketing. Have you got it?

  • I think traditional is more costly. You can start digital with almost nothing. What's more, the ROI of digital is great!

    • How? Would you like explaining me?
      Thank you
  • Traditional marketing is much costly as compare to digital marketing.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks

    • Yeah! I think so. digital marketing is seemed to be time-saving and easier than traditional marketing.
  • 'Marketing' is the 'field marketing', whereas 'Digital Marketing' is the 'online/internet based marketing'!
Without any doubt the field marketing is more costly because the travelling expenses are involved, on the other hand the internet based marketing is much better!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks

    • No idea where you learned that, but I'd no longer use that source. Your comment makes absolutely no sense. I can do offline marketing, without ever getting up from my desk.

Traveling expenses? Really? The farthest I travel is to the john or the refrigerator.

  • Traditional marketing could be a television ad during the super bowl, a postcard, or a phone number scribbled on a bathroom wall. Costs and results will vary.

Digital marketing could be an email, a Facebook Ad campaign to a million people, or a blog post.

In most cases, digital will be cheaper.

Perhaps if we understood the purpose of your question we could give you better answers.

  • The answer is, like with most things, it depends.

An ad in Times Square costs 1.1-4 million dollars a year.

Let's just call it $2.5 million.

Over the course of a year, they'll get one hundred million impressions from foot and vehicle traffic.

That's $.025 per impression which isn't too bad or too good.

When you add in impressions from TV spots that capture Times Square then it jumps to 500 million to one billion impressions (think about New Year's Eve and how it's broadcast from Times Square).

Your cost per impression plummet to $.005 - $.0025 or a CPM of $2.50.

The average on Facebook is over $7.

But you don't have access to a Times Square billboard unless you have a multimillion dollar ad budget.

It's also hard to measure conversions from that.

So it depends on many factors when you ask whether or digital or traditional marketing is more expensive.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks

    • This sentence basically covered it all. The rest provided no actual value, because as you clearly stated, the OP does not have access or the means to a Times Square billboard.

A perfect example of, 'Less is more."
  • It's all digital these days. Even if you were running traditional adverts like TV, magazine, newspaper, billboard, or radio, you're still going to need a website and engage in some type of marketing automation.

But if you're asking what's more costly traditional advertising or digital advertising I'd say definitely traditional. Also you can't track results as easily with traditional advertising.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • All of your replies are very logical . Thank you very much. But, here I have a question. Which one saves our time mostly?
    • [1] reply
    • This answer is the same: It depends.

Writing a blog post or an email is going to take less time then creating a full color catalog. I worked for several mail order companies including Gump's and Horchow's and they spent months and thousands of dollars creating and then mailing their catalogs.

However, you could write a post card in a few minutes and drop it in the mail.

To create an effective sales funnel is going to take some time.

The big advantage digital has is speed of delivery. Hit "send" and it's on its way.

  • Obviously, Traditional.

Digital Marketing reduces cost of Man-force, travelling, Stationary Cost, and a lot of stuff. Also, traditional marketing like door-to-door marketing or poster ads have less conversion rates.

Whereas, if I talk about Digital Marketing, you just need a PC, internet connection and an automated script to directly reach people into their inbox.

  • Hello,
It is obvious traditional marketing is more costly with no output .But In digital marketing, you can do this marketing in reasonable price with profit.
For traditional marketing nobody sure about the leads also and if you start digital marketing for your business then there will be guaranteed leads.so there is no doubt for digital marketing which is less expensive than traditional marketing.

    • Really? That's good to know. Should make everyone's job, much easier.

The knowledge on display in this thread should be setting the Internet on fire. Simply put - a real treasure trove of information.

  • All in all, when you put every single variable together, digital marketing is much cheaper simply because traditional outbound marketing is no longer a viable option.

We live in the age of the pro-active consumer; if they want something, they come to you and there's a million options and information to choose from!

Even if digital marketing were to be more costly, it would still pay off because it allows you to measure actual results and reach people in a much more efficient way

What kind of business do you run? Maybe I can give you some tips on the best time saving way to go about it.

    All the best!

    • If you read all of the comments, here, especially by those that have been marketing for decades, you might understand how and why your comment is simply untrue.

You're only looking at costs. No where have you mentioned the results that can be achieved by either method, so you are commenting on only half of the equation - which is virtually meaningless. Have you ever heard of, 'return on investment.' That's how you actually determine the true cost of something, not just by looking at the initial outlay of dollars.

And, yet - you are offering to help others. Based on what, may I ask???

Anyone who would say, "traditional outbound marketing is no longer a viable option," should be ignored as being simply ignorant of the facts. Billions are spent every tear on "traditional outbound marketing." I guess they are all just throwing their money away.

Time to turn out the lights!
  • Digital Marketing is less expensive and we can do digital marketing at a reasonable price with profit whereas traditional marketing is costly. In traditional marketing, we are totally unaware of the lead.so, digital marketing is more beneficial than traditional marketing.

  • Hi,

The conventional method of marketing in the advertising space with one-way communication and a larger reach which comprise of print ads, hoardings, magazines, billboards, newsletters, promotional brochures, flyers, radio ads, television ads, etc. is called traditional marketing.

The constantly evolving new media landscape that consists of all the digital technologies to bring a more personalized experience and reach the right audience by means of social media, SEO, blogging, content marketing, lead management, paid search, etc. forms the digital marketing.

    Thanks for this post...

    • Thanks for your reply. Which marketing process is easier to you?
  • Traditional Marketing is costly comparing then Digital marketing because in Traditional marketing you are able to spend budget on various activities but not able to compare or check if that activities are working or not working for you. In Digital marketing you can target each and every to whom you are willing to show your ads and pay only if you get any valuable action from your targeted audiences on your ad.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Digital Marketing is definitely cheaper.

In fact, Digital Marketing is the most cost effective way to market your business. You are able to utilize social media which is basically free and very effective.

Small businesses can get more for their marketing spend using digital marketing.

  • When I hear "Traditional Marketing" I don't think of a traveling salesman.

    I think of:
    Magazine ads
    Newspaper ads
    Television commercials
    Radio ads
    Postcards
    Printed catalogs
    Sales letters that are mailed

That's not all, of course, just the first ones that come to mind. None of them require much traveling but most of them are costly.

Though to be honest, I'm still not sure the point of this thread.

  • I would most definitely say that digital is by far the cheapest and the best. With traditional you would be taking on a lot of extra expense and with digital you can run it all yourself and your "shop" is open 24 hours and your customers are "The world"
    • [1] reply
    • Rarely, if ever in life, do the words, 'cheapest' and 'best,' belong n the same sentence, unless it's:

"If you want the best of anything in life or business, always avoid the cheapest product or service. The best, generally costs more."
