REALLY Need Some Advice

I happened to come across a rare product on tv that excited me and want to become an affiliate. (It was not an infomercial but an interview) and I know absolutely there is a market for it. Since being on tv that once he has rec'd 1000 orders for it! And the best part is he has NO affiliate program.
I wrote to him and he called me last night and wants me to write articles for him leading to his web page.
My question is, what can I do so he will know the referrals are mine? (He also is not satisfied with the web page he has and would welcome anything I can tell him to improve it, but I am not savvy on that.) I just want to keep writing articles and redirect to his page, but without a special affiliate id I am at a loss on how to do this. Could I do it if I had my own blog or web page? I realize he can set up an affiliate program, but right now I have no competition and I am sure you can see the benefit in that! Thanks so much for any help you can give me. If you have a solution, please PM me.

He needs to have an affiliate program, then all links from your articles would be tracked and you would get credit for any sales that take place.

I agree with PPC-Coach. It's too hard to figure out what referrals are yours. You could do it with a click tracker, but.. it's even harder to figure out which sales are yours.

You don't want to be in a position of sending him traffic, giving him sales, and have no idea what sold and what didn't . He could make up any number. Its a benefit to you both to have tracking that you both can see an agree with.

Hire a techy to set up something. You might even tell him. Look, you can make lots more money with an affiliate program, for $xxx I'll get it set up for you .

I agree with Scott, there are plenty of affiliate managers out there on the web

A friend of mine runs a membership site. I'm her only serious affiliate. She uses Amember and can set up affiliate links and special pages for me.

If he is serious about having you as an affiliate it is well worth him setting up an affiliate program - it will give you both peace of mind that you are not somehow cheating each other. It will also allow you both to see easily where your visitors are coming from and instantly keep track of payments due.

If he can't set up the software, I'm sure he could outsource to someone that can.

Another possibility is to have him set up a custom landing page for your referrals, with a unique buy button that identifies the sales as yours.

This isn't perfect for a lot of reasons, including the fact that you have no way of tracking sales resulting from your referrals, but it might be better than nothing.

just create a sales page and have paypal as your payment processor then once orders come it, simply buy the products from him at a lower price, make sure you get enough out of it to cover the shipping and handling fee plus a nice profit..

With this method you'll be the one in control..he'll still be the source but you'll sure get money out of it..

    Just a possible idea..

    All the best,

I have gone through that with my websites.

To be fair to both of you..you really need to set up an affiliate program.

Maybe try a affiliate software program.

Then, it would be possible to set it up as a 2 tier and you get a percentage of the new affiliate sales? (although it is nice if you received the whole pie but, it is an option)
