Starting A New Journey Online

Well I'm a long time member that is starting from the bottom again. This time I'll be documenting my journey to making an income online.

When I first joined the Warrior Forum I was all over the place, from WSO to WSO and never was able to get anything done along with my ADD it was a disaster.

The difference now is I am older, little more focused, and have specific goals in mind hopefully no more shiny object syndrome.

Right now the goals are to pay off debt, make extra income on the side, produce some online income and finally become financially free one way or another.

Specifically I am interested in amazon affiliates but its been awhile since I have been here.Is building sites for amazon commissions still a good way to earn an income online?.

I know that for awhile the big push was ecommerce/shopify/dropshipping is that still the case?.

Any advice is appreciated

feels good to be back!

There are dozens of ways to make money online. There are still plenty of people building AliExpress/Shopify dropshipping sites. The number who are successful with any given method remains the same - about 20%, with only 10% being very successful and less being super successful (the 80/20 rule works for almost everything in life).

We still prefer real dropshipping, where you contact actual brands to ship products that people know and want. It's definitely harder than the AliExpress model but the fact that it is harder means there is less competition.

I'd be interested to see the data behind that statement.

Personal experience tells me it's closer to 2%.

Both numbers are simply opinions as there are no comprehensive study results.

Almost 100% of the things stared on this forum are nothing more than personal opinions, which are sadly offered-up as hard facts.

We get to judge how knowledgeable people really are, but what they put forward as 'information.' That's a good thing, as it teaches us who to never listen to.

You are probably right as far as all of the people putting up websites everywhere, most of which have no clue what they are doing. I can only use what I know by the people I know, most of which are involved in our program.

Anybody can do this with the right instruction. That doesn't mean that most will, even when they are told what to do. "You can lead a horse to water ..."

I also got interested in the AA scheme, a couple of months ago, and was almost ready to create a website. Fortunately, my colleague told me to take it easy. Now I'm almost sure I would have lost money due to lack of knowledge. So it would be interesting for me to keep an eye on your progress. Good luck!

Amazon is still relevant. But you'll need a lot of time to rank and a lot of traffic because the commissions are low on Amazon.
There are countless other ways to make money on the Internet. Just choose one and make it your bitch!

    NO!

Building sites for Amazon commissions is a tiny piece of the e-commerce puzzle - maybe one of the easiest pieces. It's not going to bring you any income.

If you want to earn income online with Amazon you have to solve this challenge: sourcing products smartly, traffic generation, then actually turning visitors into buyers at a decent ROI. Therein lies the challenge, the problem, and the payoff.

    Good luck to you,

Why anyone would want to start a website/business with the end goal of making money as an Amazon affiliate is beyond me. You're looking at an average commission of around 5%. If you're going to put in the time, effort and money to build a business online, why not build something more profitable and that you have more control of?

The same reason people do a lot of things - it's easier. You don't have to set up payment processing or be responsible for fraud, you don't have to try to source products, you don't have to worry about packaging, shipping and tracking numbers and you don't have to deal with customers at all.

There are plenty of very well known review websites that make a ton of money from Amazon. They took many years to get to that level, though, so there is still a lot of work involved. Plus, not every product niche pays 4-5%. There are some that pay as much as 8-10% (of course, there are a few that only pay 1-2%, too).

I'm not saying it is the method I would choose, but there are many ways to make money online.

Agreed. People need to choose their own path based on what they have determined is best for their skillset and the amount of work they want to do. I never approached my business with the intent of wringing every last penny out of any particular method or action.

Personally, I always look for the happy, middle-ground. Could I have made more money in life? I'm sure I could have. Would I be any happier had I done so? I seriously doubt that.

I'll never understand the obsession with folks trying to get others to adopt what they do, or subscribe to their beliefs. One of the reasons folks get into this line of work (for lack of a better term) is for the freedom it affords one to do things their way, on their time schedule, with as much effort or lack thereof as they deem appropriate for themselves.

Some people are simply not interested, or they are incapable of doing what others suggest they should be doing. Additionally, over time, many discover that some of the suggestions that were made just might be valid and worthy of acquiring the skills necessary to employing the new strategies as they learn the ropes and move forward in their online venture. Even with that, these discoveries will happen at different times for everyone, if they happen at all.

People need to find their own path, proceed down it at their own pace and reach their destination holding true to their own beliefs and efforts, regardless of what I might think would be better for them.

I can be an arrogant little SOB, but not arrogant enough to tell others what I think they should be doing or not doing - unless of course they claim that they are looking to get rich in cryptocurrency trading. Then - as a compassionate human being, I feel it is my distinct responsibility to do everything I can to try to save them from themselves. :-) It's a joke, people.

This post is a general observation and not meant to challenge or refute any prior post. This is something I see almost everyday and just wanted to put my personal thoughts on the matter, in plain view.

        Cheers.

I'm not necessarily set on AA, but I was looking generally into affiliate marketing.

Mainly because at this point I am not interested in sourcing product and all that.

I know that a lot of people are building shopify stores and and dropshipping from aliexpress but in all that you have to have good budget to spend on ppc to drive traffic not only that but creating ads.

So, if you're not planning to advertise via PPC... How are you planning to advertise and drive traffic? If you're planning to drive traffic via free methods for affiliate marketing, you can do the same for ecommerce products.

Ultimately, you have to spend less on advertising than you make in profit to stay in business. Just my opinion - but, I think it's going to be a long, hard road ahead to build traffic that allows you to profit off of the 1-10% commissions that Amazon offers.

Whether you do dropshipping or affiliate marketing, you still need to figure out a way to get people to your website. That doesn't change. The AliExpress model doesn't HAVE TO be driven by pay per cick advertising. If you have a great way of getting people to an affiliate site, that same great way would work for a dropshipping site.

I prefer dropshipping but not necessarily with AliExpress (although I do have sites that employ that model, too). The advantage of finding high ticket real brands as suppliers who will dropship their products is that you can immediately afford to advertise. If you make $100 on every sale and a conversion costs you $40-$50 in advertising, you still make money and can make it very quickly after launching your website. But, that takes real work and relationship building. Alas, some people are not cut out for that. Keep in mind, though, that driving people to an affiliate site without advertising also takes hard work and relationship building.

Perhaps you should determine the niche and opportunity that you could offer value and then determine the best go to market sales strategy. You might have expertise in model railcars (obviously making up a crazy example) and hear through your network that these folks would love another blog, or purchasing rail table designs or whatever. Then - determine if a Shopify store or blog or affiliate offer makes sense. I am often surprised by the number of people who said "I want to make money on the internet and want to use AA" without knowing who the target audience or the offering is...

After living and teaching English abroad for a few years, I'm back living in my hometown London. Apart from the towering apartment blocks being built around east London, everything seems as it was when I left it. Some would view coming home as the end of a journey, but for me, it's the start of a new one as an online English teacher.

Sorry, but building a great website and making a profit are not mutually exclusive concepts. Practically every website I have ever built had a primary goal of making a profit and more than 90% of the eCommerce sites I have built sold products that I was not remotely interested in. There is absolutely no reason why you can't build a website that people will like to visit often with profit being your primary goal. Whether or not I, personally, would like to visit the site is immaterial.

Creating sites to make money from Amazon products will probably always be viable as long as people trust Amazon. Reviews are still very hot online and probably will be until the internet doesn't exist, if that day ever comes.

I love your goals and have been there myself. I would advise you to choose a method/system you like and just stick to it. Commit to it for an entire year and you'll probably be thrilled with the results.

Welcome back . You can start off slow , on a small scale . There are several free ways to make money online . Amazon is also one of them provided that you are writing content and doing the work yourself.
Try making site on one product. find related keywords , and write more content on same product on 1 site , inteerconnect , ON page SEO and then see where you rank. I have seen many sites ranking with just ON page SEO.
Yoou can also get traffic for such sites from pinterest., reddit , FB etc.
on pinterest you can join big boards and share stuff to get super high quality traffic ,i have done that many times and works great. Hope that helps..

I think pretty much all methods work. The key is to pick one method you can see yourself doing for a long period of time.

Any method you do takes time to build.

Building a eCommerce store is no different than any other business.

It takes time to build and do right.

Always ask yourself if what you're doing is something you plan to do for a long period of time or is it just something you're doing because someone says you have to be doing it.

Everything you do takes time and energy and focus. So if you're just adding more work to your plate then it doesn't make sense.

Lot off methods works, but the real equation is you not the method.

What will work is what you're committed to build and commit to over a long period of time.

I wish you the best of luck. There is never a better time to get into ecom than the 4 quarter.

  • Hey, wishing you good luck with your coming projects. I have heard a lot about Dropshipping and Amazon Affiliate Niche. Also, as I am going to start with a dropshipping website in couple of week, I have done research and talked to people who have done it. Dropshipping is really profitable. You just need to be good with product selection and a video ad will be the best way to advertise it. Go with it....

Amazon affiliate sites are still a great way to make some decent money. Especially if you create them and flip them.

But you can do that with any monetization methods too, not just Amazon.

eCom can be expensive to get into, no matter what course tells you it isn't. So be careful who you listen to.

These days, focusing on building you/your brand and building a list of people who can relate to you is a more stable way if you're getting started all over again.

    Good luck :-)

I've lurked the WF for 10+ years now. I did okay with the typical affiliate marketing (Clickbank/Commission Junction) about 8+ years ago but where I really started doing well was when I ventured away from just focusing on the opportunities presented here and ran with an affiliate opportunity with cryptocurrency. Just purchased my first home and 100% of the $400k down payment was from cryptos. My point being; don't just focus in on what people talk about here -- sometimes straying away from the main road will still get you to the same destination (freedom). Welcome back and good luck!
