Affiliate managers contacting affiliates directly 17%

An affiliate manager who is active I message boards, 12%

I believe that program managers should be aware of where affiliates are at actively seeking partners message boards like this forum are provided a good opportunity to not only promote your programs and gain high visibility among affiliates but also a way to listen in and on what affiliates are seeking

  • Thanks Clint,

Those are great stats for both affiliate managers and product owners to know.

They were taken from the 2009 Affstat Report.

I blogged about it when it 1st came out. Shawn Collins, the author, gave me a preview and let me post a graph showing the stats Clint referenced. So if you want to see all the other sources and ways affiliates find out about affiliate programs to join, here it is:

Affiliate Recruiting and the FREE Affstat Report

I question some of the numbers though as the survey was taken from a small sampling of 450 affiliates. I don't think that many affiliates use directories any more so I think that figure is a little high and I have to think that more than 3% of affiliates find affiliate programs via affiliate networks.

Still it's really good information to have and to know.
