Is this the way to do Web 2.0 SEO? Am i doing it right?

What you are describing here seems like a technique used by many SEO companies. Can't remember the name, but it involves a subset of blogs in a network that is supposed to improve your ranking for a main site. You can look for some of these SEO groups on Facebook.

A few years ago everyone was creating mini-sites. I don't know if this works with Google anymore.

You are doing it wrong buddy.

Here are some ideas for doing the SEO bit properly, for lasting growth.

1 - Start 1 self-hosted Wordpress blog.

2 - Stay on topic, solving core problems for your readers thru posts.

3 - Befriend top bloggers by commenting on their blogs and by promoting them. Ask for nothing in return.

4 - Be patient, persistent and generous. Do not panic and bail. See this strategy through.

That's it; organic, quality backlinks will flow your way. You'll boost your SEO.

Tiered link building is basically dead

Unless you're going to build SEMI-QUALITY sites on Web 2.0 sites and naturally attract links using this content, you can pass it to a tier with HIGHER quality content

From that higher quality content Web 2.0 sites you link to your money site

Dump this strategy as it doesn't work. So many SEO techniques are good for about a year or two and then they die and you might watch your blog/website die along with them. It's best to let things happen organically.

Completely agree here. Great content will get linked to. It takes time, but if you see it through it works.

It would take so much time to build high-quality Web 2.0 sites, I wouldn't even try. It's better to use that high-quality content on your own site.

It's a lot of work for something that does not work so well, then you can pay PBN links that also do not work well any more.

I would recommend that you find relevant blogs in your niche, contact them and offer them to write a guest post on their blog with backlinks to your website, some will accept some will not. These links are permanent and have a higher value.

I wouldn't waste time on any kind of linking scheme like this. I'd pick one domain/blog to target per audience and just get busy writing content on that one blog for that one audience. Content that truly helps them and speaks to their pain points.
