Phone number on site.

I was doing some research into a niche market and noticed a couple companies listed wanting affiliates had their phone number on the site. Does it make sense to not promote those companies because people I send there could just call them and buy rather then buying that companies product on line through my link. By calling I am sure that company isn't going to ask how they got there and would eliminate my commission.

    What kind of products?

If it's an ecommerce site you're promoting, I'd be more concerned if they didn't have a phone number listed.

Phone numbers can increase customers confidence in the company, but in my experience, very, very few people actually call.

It is normal to have phone number listed on the professional website, and I dont think that they will ask who refer them .

I surprised they ain't asking you to pay them for "privilege" to promote them.

    Of course.
Sure after you've processed order and earn your commissions, then why not

    Does make sense.
Just remember that they need you more than you need them.

This actually is a likely scenario. But it doesn't mean you shouldn't promote them, give it a try and see if it works.

I would never say that is a "likely scenario". I'd say it is a "rare scenario" that is likely to happen once in a blue moon. Sure, probably one out of a thousand times you'll lose a referral that way but I know because I have literally built more than 100 successful eCommerce sites, the percentage of people who call is far below a half a percent of site visitors.

As others have said, a phone number is more of a trust symbol than anything (especially if it is a toll free number). People trust companies more who have phone numbers but practically nobody calls the number (they just like to know they could if they needed to). People these days seem to be terrified of actually speaking with another human being, so phone calls are extremely rare. They want as little human contact as possible and will do everything they can, including sending 20 back and forth emails, before they would ever bite the bullet and pick up the phone.

You're right, perhaps "likely" wasn't the right word. All I was getting at was that it can and does happen.

I also think it is often an age/demographics thing on who is more likely to use a phone number compared to who would prefer to not.

I'd agree. Seniors that are not particularly internet savvy and who are used to a world where you pick up the phone and talk to people call far more often than any other demographic group. Other than that, you'll get more calls if you are in a particularly confusing niche and cannot put together a good enough buyer's guide to explain the intricacies of your product line to the average layman.

If it's an e-commerce store, I don't think you have much to worry about.

When your referrals land on their page, whether they communicate to the company via live chat, email, Phone call, Whatsapp or any other means....they will still have to go ahead and place an order via the system, which will be logged to your referral tracking code.

But of course, their referral terms and conditions apply.

I used to list my toll free number on my site, but got way too many spam calls. (I don't know if it was bots harvesting my number and reselling the info or what)

I now prefer to only use a support desk system where people can submit tickets.

I'm not a fan of a phone number being on a landing page. However, it's certainly not a deal breaker.

In the end, it all really comes down to if the offer generates an ROI that is acceptable to you.

    Test it and see.

Go for it and try it out with the companies phone number. Like others have said, if anything, it'll just give the customer more confidence in what they're purchasing.

I can't tell you how many times I've come to a site thinking about buying something and the only way to contact them is through a form to fill out. No email. No address. No phone number. Nothing-Nadda-Zip. So guess what... I ran away.
