I wrote 2 eBooks--1 on Content Marketing and another on Local Marketing. What should I do with them?

All thoughts, violent reactions, snarky responses, and insulting comments will be deeply and unabashedly (yes I used a thesaurus) accepted and appreciated.

But really.

What can I do with them without spending anything? (Yes, I'm stingy like that)

Content marketing eBook--12,000 words
Local Marketing Beginner's Guide--20,000 words

They've been sitting idle in the cloud for a few years

You could publish them on Amazon Kindle/CreateSpace. Make a book cover on Canva if needed..

Sell on Fiverr, Ebay, ibooks, google play, kobo etc

Give away to build email list

    Sell as PLR

    Post as articles

    Turn into an audio book

Create YouTube videos from the content

Turn into a course and sell on udemy

      Hi Pezzle
Thanks for sharing your awesome tips with us.
But I want to add a few of them.
At first, you should build trust form reader and increase its positive review. After then you started selling it.
Right now no one is interested in your book because no one knows about this book, you don't have any review.
So at first, you start sharing your free sample with review submission link. By this way, you can get review and trust in your book.

Why would you NOT be willing to invest a small sum in marketing your product? That kinda is how this sales thingy works.

I don't know about stingy, but it certainly is shortsighted.

I hope those more than likely, outdated books are comfortable where they reside. They have probably found a permanent home.

    Good luck.

P.S. Was that 'snarky' enough for you. lol

First question would be -- what do YOU want to do in this market? In other words, do you want to continue to serve either market (online or local offline markets?)

If yes, then I would use these as lead generators into a funnel where you offer additional products or services...if NOT then either (if they are good quality) I would sell resell rights to them or if they are average or below quality...forget it and move into something where you WANT to excel

    Make sense?

Sounds like your products are outdated and need to be seriously updated before you put them on the market. Otherwise, you risk refund requests and a bad reputation as a product creator and internet marketer.

There are more than a few Product Creators that sell eBooks specifically about Content Marketing and Local Marketing Beginner's Guide. Some are successful and some are not. The most successful marketers, in terms of profit, focus on content that is up to date and do NOT risk refund requests and a bad reputation as a product creator and internet marketer.

Try to sell me (a product creator) outdated products and I will quickly let my network of product creators know that I do not recommend your products and your company as part of our business. Not to say that if you "never contacted me" that I would disavow everything about doing business with you since my company does not have a dog in the fight. See what I mean? Your personal business integrity is a personal thing and it speaks volumes of doing business with you.

Well noted. The foundation of the ebooks are evergreen but the statistics and other details can/will be updated. Thank you for your input.

Oh, there are plenty of forum threads about marketing content. One of my favorite forum members that obtains a lot of unbiased "do it right" knowledge in content marketing is 'Kay King'

Almost all of Kay's threads and posts are populated by other forum members of high integrity and provide invaluable contributions.

Very interesting perspective. I am so sorry, I just read or am reading a report that explains the strategy about selling products you make and if the product is old, awesome- because as an incentive- when you update it from 1.0 to 2.0, the value of the product goes up dramatically, with a few twists. The 1.0 can be used as a lead magnetic, but also "not from the report" I am reading- you can turn ONE product into multiple products. Ie. Book, make a "Work Book", audio recording, cheat sheet and more. When you create a "digital product", you have spent so much time and effort, you have to "think outside" the box to get the most $ our of the work. Kindle is a great idea, done that- love doing that. BUT, did you know-everyone knows- YOU make more money selling it yourself as apposed to allowing other folks to sell it for you, BUT: I recently learned through self evaluation. Do you suck at SEO, I do. Then I can never grow a list. But what I can do, is be creative, write reports, sell them and keep all the money. Allowing affiliates to sell, Ur products, you only wind up with a big email list. No money just a list. I know what you are thinking. Yep! Been there and realization #2: Develop a system to turn what I got into what other people want or use what I got and make money from what I have. Sounds crazy, but I am learning a lot. #3: When you are an affiliate, I never realized you put money in other people's pocket long term and not your own? Lastly, you spoke of refunds. You are correct in that regard, but the "book" says- do x to reduce refunds and where is Y. I read that info with eyes and mouth open. There are two maybe three kinds of people who buy digital products. Learners, thieves- refund all the time, and taster (folks or read a little) off to another ebook, etc. The thieves buy everything in the funnel and within say 30 min to 3 days- they want their money back. Outside looking in, the thieves never opened the product or tried to implement it. They just love pulling out that visa card and buy, buy, buy because the cardinal "30 Day Money Back G" is the writing on the wall. I apologize my post is so long, but as you can see- I have given it all a lot of thought, but more importantly; there is hope, there is opportunity and there is a solution. Finding the solution to problems ie refunds, old PLR products on your hard drive not being used; selling stuff- this is all exciting to me and I see it as a wonderful opportunity. So, everybody reading this post, get excited. Try advertising here on WF and learn, create a system and NEVER GIVE UP.

Please don't take this the wrong way - but if you wrote an ebook on content marketing then one would assume that you would use "content marketing" to get the word out about your books?

Plus that would make for a great case study which would then be an upsell. " How i used my content marketing strategies to sell x number of my ebooks etc"

    Hope that helps.

Exactly. I assume you want to monetize your work. Also, given your books are on marketing, kind of strange position to take "not wanting to spend money".

On the other hand, 12k words is what, about 25 pages. Even the bigger one at about 50 pages seems kind of a small book for this subject. You could try Fiverr I suppose and make just a few dollars net per sale. I would use them as free giveaways to position yourself as an expert in the field and that could really bring in customers for a long time, if that's what you want to do.

Advice: I would read them yourself and revise them since you say they were written years ago.

Thank you for the sound advise. I will update the content. I am NOT not willing to spend, just looking for ways to maybe sell this without having to shell anything out--if there is such a thing, then good for me right? But if none, then I spend.

I'd sell 'em on Amazon or Selz Andrea Louise. Help folks. Earn profit.

Promote via creating free content on your blog, and link to the eBook. Keep building your friend network too, to spread the word.

Sell them on Amazon.com through the Kindle program, it's free. You could also sell them for a larger price as a one-time sale to someone looking to promote and sell them as their own. Give away the rights and sell them for a few hundred or a thousand dollars, depending on how good the guides are.

Of course, you can also sell them on your own blog/website.

Depending on your location you can contact "circles of influence" like local chambers of commerce etc and offer to speak on the topics.

It is easy to sell when delivered through another prospect aggregator like the organisations and associations that meet regularly.

I'm fortunate that I get invited to speak at small business forums in my city without having to chase those opportunities but nearly all of the organisations I speak to ask for referrals and who else they can get to talk to members.

If you position yourself as an authority on helping small business it can be quite easy to line up a few gigs and then one secret can be to co-brand your offering and make a gentle pitch or allow the organisation to pitch your content.

How you go about that will depend on who you encounter and how you present what you have.

Vanity publishing in print form can be a useful tactic when approaching these groups.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

  • I would publish both books as singles and as a bundle (3 books total). I would publish them on Kindle, KDP Paperback and on AUdible.com.

Do some keyword research to get the right titles.

I think there is potential to make money if the content is current.

What everyone else has said is correct.

If the content is up to date, you are able to publish the book on Amazon for free. You will still have to get the cover done, which you can do yourself or spend $10-$20 to have done for you.

You do have a way with Words. I love it.

I had never seen anyone do this before I did it.

But I sold an eBook for 30 days. Made about $5000 here as a WSO I just stopped bumping it never promoted it but it hit me why not give someone else Master Rights to it while sales are still trickling in and I have proof.

They have no section for selling rights to eBooks at Flippa so I just scooped up the matching Title Domain name picked a Blog Template that showed a Opt in form and nothing else. One page Template.

Then I created a Starter Site Auction and in the Sellers Notes I wrote that the eBook was really the Star of the Show and had Proven sales and long story short Sold for couple Thousand in days.

Even if you have no proven sales just update the book and then its Copy writing skills time! Push the benefits of having your own info product...own possible affiliates, making money in your sleep JVs, list building etc. You will be saving someone a lot of time and effort if the books are really good.

But auctions do cost money so make sure you make it super shiny and appealing. You could make one a Bonus.

Same thing for Groups, put in your forum sig all the benefits to having a ready to sell Info product. But make it fresh stuff quality stuff.
