Death of article marketer - contentcrooner.com or distributeyourarticles.com?

Hi,

I just found that articlemarketer.com has ceased to exist and they transferred their customers to one of 2 other services.

Now i can chose which one to use.

The Evolution of Article Marketing. Content Crooner

Distribute Your Articles. Quick. Inexpensive. Simple.

If you have any experience with these services please let me know your recommentdation.

Thanks,
Ralf

They are both brand new, so people would have very little experience with them.

That is very interesting to know as I also had articles on this site which now does not exist. Should be interesting to see what happens to my articles now.

You can go there and log in.

They have transferred your articles to one of the 2 companies mentioned above.

After loggin in you can now decide if you're happy with the chosen one, or if you want to switch to the other one.

Actually I'm quite happy about this. The former articlemarketer.com had the worst support you could think of.

I am going with Content Crooner solely because someone bothered to send me an email asking me to do so.

I know it's not much, but after lack of responses from A.M. through the years: I take it as a potential good sign that someone might care.

I have been using content crooner since the switch over a week ago or so. There were some technical issues at first when trying to submit an article, but they have since been fixed. There is, however, a problem with their review and submission delays. I have one article that has been approved and waiting for distribution for 4 days now. And I have 2 other articles pending human approval for 3 days (they are supposed to be reviewed within 1 business day).

I wonder if others are having the same issues.

      I've decided to try distributeyourarticles.com.

Both services have the same distribution list.
(At least they start with the same list, they will differentiate over time.)

distributeyourarticles.com is 25% cheaper and their support answered my pre-sales questions fast and well.

I've had a good look at both of them and neither are looking or working as well as Article Marketer used to.

I know they are both new services, but they shouldn't have been made public until they were fully functioning.

I'm really disappointed with the way Article Marketer has handled the situation actually; basically, I've paid them and then they've disappeared and left me in the hands of others, without pre-warning me or offering to give me a refund.

Anyway, in answer to your question, of the two, Distribute Your Articles looks the better option.

      I got changed to DistributeYourArticles.

      I haven't submitted an article yet, but there are three things standing out for me at the moment;

      1. It's cheaper.

      2. Their support staff respond to tickets very quickly. (Non-existent with AM)

      3. Unlimited pen names.

I haven't submitted any articles yet but I think I'm happy with the change overall.

AM didn't leave you "in the hands of others," actually. The two partners split over differences in business philosophy. The two new companies are each run by one of the former partners. They split the user base in half, but each user is free to migrate to the other company and all articles migrate with them.

Yes, they launched prematurely, but the only alternative was to stop distribution of all articles until both sites were 100% defect-free. That wasn't in the best interests of us, so they did the best they could.

I was switched to distributeyourarticles.com. I'm happy with that. Pricing is irrelevant for me since I purchased lifetime membership. On the sales page it does say unlimited pen names, however, when I logged into distributeyourarticles.com, they tried to sell me 4 additional pen names for $40, an offer which I declined, so I'm not sure where all these free additional pen names are.

I went to Content Crooner and found that most of the websites I clicked on in their distribution list were either expired domains or were not websites. All of the blogspot.com blogs were canceled or banned.

Has anyone just decided to switch to another service?

      I was disappointed about distributeyourarticles.com.

When I asked them about switching from content crooner to them, they replied quickly and said I would get a special offer (pay 1 month, get 4 to start with).

With this upgrade offer, you get unlimited pen names now, and 4 months of DistributeYourArticles features for the price of just one ($29.95), access to all new features as they roll out in the coming days - and you lock in the price today for the duration of your subscription.
AFTER I made the change they told me the offer would not apply to me.

Well, why did they not tell me about their fine print before? When they motivated me to do the change, they 'forgot' to mention that it was tied to requirements.

Exactly why you do not deal with places like that ... Any company that gives the support issues which many have complained about and then splits into 2 different companies, I would seriously think twice before making any payments at all..

But that is just me... I rather deal with someone I know will be there and actually offer me value for my money..

Just a quick update to Ralf's comment above...

Ralf Skirr originally wrote in and told us that he had an account with Article Marketer, and he wanted to know his upgrade options. We answered based on the information he provided. What he neglected to mention was that his account had expired 3 years ago.

That, of course, changed everything. As soon as we accessed his account, we discovered that it had been closed since 2006. We immediately informed him of the impact.

We did this BEFORE the change was completed, and asked his permission to continue. He never bothered to reply. In the end, after a full month and 3 unanswered followups, we simply closed his request without completing the change.

Just to be clear: there was no "fine print", just a correction based on new information.

Well, where's my account that I paid $400 for a lifetime membership. I was switched to distributeyourarticles.com and logged in once. Logged out and then the other day, tried to log in to submit an article and I'm not in the database. Couldn't even find a support email because it wanted me to log in to do that.

are such services really worth using?

From what I've seen of their sales page, they promise to distribute your article to thousands of blogs and directories.

Doesn't this open up all sorts of duplicate content issues?

Thanks to cellington ... able to log in now. I used ArticleMarketer when it was one site with very good backlinking results. I was always happy with the service. Now that my lifetime membership is intact and I can log in, I plan on resuming the service that I always loved before.

articlemarketer's business model has problems at the beginning. one obvious mistake is: they offer life time membership for a fixed fee and there is no limit for the # of article the life time members can submit. When some memebrs abuse the service, the service will go down very quickly since it costs money for them to keep up the service while members will not pay more. The only way to survive is to keep getting more members, lots of members. The reality is this does not happen.

So, it is not a surprise that AM is down. For the new company, it has the similar problem.

    just my 0.02.

Mass article distribution is a thing of the past as far as I am concerned.

Today, you need to utilize other (free) services and social networks in order to promote your articles effectively and gain backlinks that actually matter...at least, backlinks that matter right now.

When Article Marketer split, I initially went with Distribute Your Articles but it became clear pretty quick that they weren't anywhere near ready. So I switched to Unique Article Wizard and haven't looked back.

DYA and Content Crooner might be better now but I'm quite happy with UAW.

DYA advertises "server to server" submission to Ezine articles ...

      A dubious claim at best.

Wonder what Chris Knight thinks about that?

        Hi Eric,

I imagine they are talking about EZA's API. If so, Mr. Knight knows about it.

        EzineArticles API

I would imagine, based on previous statements by Chris, that they consider their API submissions to be second rate, at best, because they are not looking to establish a relationship with EZA...they just want to blast their articles into the database.

But boasting "server to server" submission is kind of deceiving...and a bit indulgent, dontcha think?

It's false advertising, because it is not server to server - It is either force fed from Curl or Snoopy 2.1 which is more like it.

I do not agree with force feeding articles to an article directory. For those that do not understand what "force fed" means..

It is using a system such as snoopy 2.1 to auto login accounts and auto post the articles without regard to any tos or policies the site may have on such practices. (this is the basic description for online software)

The problem here is ... what happened to all those back links that were here today and gone tomorrow .

If you are submitting to thousands of sites ... I would almost bet that a number of them die monthly .

    Troy,

I am starting to wonder if there is some sort of an aging process in the whole algorithm thingamajobber. Where they devalue backlinks as they get older - at least from lower-tier sites.

In that case, disappearing links wouldn't matter quite as much (although I still believe disappearing links kick your ass in the SERPs).

But then again, I don't work for Google or claim to know anything about their algorithm. I can only go by what I see.

Just a thought I've been having lately. Thought I'd throw it out there.

I am with DYA basically because I got the special price after the split otherwise I would have already left!

Some user complained on their board that most of the sites he found his backlinks on where nofollow LOL...
I never checked that since I automatically assumed that you have only dofollow sites in a paid distribution system (which is a very small distribution system bytheway)

Their distribution list as already mentioned is very small but they announced that there will be a better distribution system in the future...

At the moment I feel its not really worth the money

I have been using Content Crooner for the 2 months and I am thinking about stopping the next payment.

Firstly, take away the argument whether mega articles is a good thing or not worth it!! That's for another day.

My experience so far has not been the best best, checked a few of my articles, and those checked had not got accepted to the article websites, or the article websites did not exist.

Maybe i missed something, but I thought the submission service included artually getting published!!

According to their support response that is not the case!! Begs the question why use the service!! Although they only ever state they are submitting the articles..so I suppose there is nothing wrong in what they have stated.

The support response also stated that I should manually submit to the article websites, that they have not submitted to...Even to those that CC state they do submit to!!!

Long and short of it, what DYA?

Does anyone know if either service has actually improved their distribution list?

Has anyone actually got any article published using this service?

I've been away from WF for awhile. We have been silent for a reason.

We have been busy, and just this week came out of beta. The SmartDistribution Platform for Business Owners and Marketing Professionals is an end-to-end article marketing solution that avoids content farms, spurns “thin content” and provides site specific reporting on an article-by-article basis.

I'm happy to answer any questions, here for everyone or privately via PM.
