Vendor Question: ClickBank Affiliates or PPC?

Hi there--I recently created a product and am wondering how best to handle the sales aspect.

I initially decided that I will put my ebook on the ClickBank marketplace, due to the ease of all the payment processing and affiliate network. But as I was going through WF, I saw a handful of comments on how product creators should forget about affiliates, not give the crazy commissions, and just work through building out their own PPC campaigns and growing organic traffic sources.

I have a great and stable traffic source, my content sites have become evergreen in my niche, and I have a sizable following.

It has been many years since I worked with ClickBank, and I had a great experience as an affiliate, but I have read about all of these crazy policy changes over the past 3-4 years and people disliking the network. After receiving requirements for my sales page and product, I checked my competitors and they do not follow any of CB's requirements--like badges and disclaimers and even FTC regulations!

This makes me a tad anxious about how potential affiliates may advertise my product. But I also don't want to create a high barrier for entry.
  • What are the benefits of ClickBank? What are other options for product creators?
  • Are affiliates mandatory in converting sales?
  • Is Facebook/Adwords/Bing PPC a better strategy?
  • What are other options for trusted payment processors that can handle refunds etc. automatically, or with limited management from me?

I honestly thought I had it all figured out with how I wanted this--it honestly felt like a no brainer. But now, I would really appreciate insights from the community.

Thanks!

Those comments that you have read with people advising that you should forget about affiliates, most likely have never launched a CB product.

You can drive your own traffic & make use of affiliates. Who says you have to use just one?

Bulk of my sales come from affiliates - and most likely it's the same for many other vendors.

Sell your ebook on Amazon Kindle as well as directly from your website through Pay Per Click/Social Media

Avoiding affiliates is one way to do it. But think about it this way, you are only paying the affiliate based on a guaranteed outcome. When you start to use traffic sources like ppc, etc it can be very easy to lose money.

You could always try both as well.

Well be smart and use both .Affiliates will help you to make sales ,and you must try also ppc .I dont understand why you want to avoid affiliates as you can get some very ood traffic over years .I am not an expert on this field .But for example on my website i recomnd a cb product and that vendor can get traffic for many years if my website ranks .Imagine 10 people promoting your product ,you never know

I always say try everything. Keep and expand what works, eliminate what doesn't.

As others said, you can use both. Why not give it a go? If your product is high-quality, that's even a better reason to use CB and outrank your competitors in terms of quality.

Also, ebooks can be easily self-published on multiple platform with sites like draft2digital.

You can always reach out to SoftwareProjects/BuySellGoods instead of ClickBank.

Plenty offers are moving there from ClickBank.

What niche are you in? Let me know and I can introduce you if its a good fit.

Also... you can use your own affiliate software depending on your cart.... even HasOffers, Cake, Refersion, etc... depends on your product, how its delivered, etc.

Hi there. I read your content and it is pretty interesting. Based on my experience with ClickBank, I think they are the biggest in digital products and placing your e-book in ClickBank would be great. I know there are many competitors in ClickBank for the same categories. However should you aggressively promote your products in social ads, I think a lot of people would buy and eventually your products would be rank highest in Clickbank categories. To me there is no right or wrong marketing platform. However, certain platform are more effective than others depending on its suitability and interests. Hope it helps.

You can use Clickbank since they generate a lot of traffic. No harm in having affiliates promote your product. They are only paid if they sell something of yours. You will make more sales this way than doing it all on your own.

Either way it's up to you to see what works best.

    I would also recommend Clickbank.

As you have discovered they have other product related to yours.
And the thing is, people don't buy just one. They often buy several
    in the same niche...

And as far as affiliates go - they're basically free to you since they
only get paid when they deliver the goods.

Any of the other ways to make sale will cost you in advertising fees.
Not a reason to avoid them, but I would give affiliates a go.

Also, build up a good backend, which will make you look desirable
to affiliates since they'll have the potential of making lots of money
    with your product.

And, of course, provide them with great affiliate resources to make
selling easier for them - and to get more affiliates on board.

    Good luck!

JVZoo is a very good payment processor, they handle refunds with little effort on your part, I started selling my $197 product on JVZoo few days ago and everything is working just great,

You can still do PPC, if you do it right you can make decent return, I've used the Google content network inside of Adwords to make about $200 per day few years ago, but I decided to strictly go into copywriting

Clickbank and JVZoo are great if you know how to do PRE-LAUNCH MARKETING

If not, I suggest doing outreach to bloggers in your niche to get them in the pre-launch

Better still... why not use affiliates and contact existing high traffic bloggers, website owners, and/or YouTubers who have high volume traffic in your niche... and broker a deal to place your ad, banner, text links on their sites or in their description links... and pay them 50% sales commisions!

Creating JV partners who already have a relative established audience could be all the difference from $200 a month in book sales to hitting pay dirt like Mike Geary's eBook; "The Truth About 6-Pack Abs"... I think he did like $22M in sales last time I checked...mainly using affiliates!

Same thing happened for the guy who wrote; "How to Build a Chicken Coop"... he made millions too... But, they were highly efficient marketers...and they provided a ton of promo tools for their affiliates.

I thought leveraging a large network of affiliates was one of the main benefits to owning your own product. I'd go with Clickbank and push my own traffic to the offer as well.
