Quora was great for traffic two years ago. But as with all good traffic sources its over saturated now. You are late to the party my friend.

Now, if you want traffic you need to write the best post out of thousands of submissions and hope that people copy and paste the link from your biography (in text links are highly discouraged now)

Quora values quality over everything. Low quality/self promotion posts get deleted within minutes

It really depends on the landing page and how your offer resonates with the target audience.

    Some will flop, others pop.

I get 5 or 6 requests for answers in my mailbox every morning. If I'm in the mood I'll give it a go. But many of the questions are just different versions of the same in the 'how do i get started in affiliate marketing' niches while others are a bit more challenging and can often inspire me to write a blog post.

Like here, you can of assistance to others from time to time. But also be aware that some of the questions are intended to have readers take a look at their product. Questions like 'is there a better XYZ than Blah, Blah or Blah?"

Yes quora is good for traffic. If you're doing affiliate marketing then don't place direct Affiliate link instead put bridging page between them or else you might get ban. Let me know for any help

I would like to drive traffic to my blog and maybe from time to time to promote affiliate offer by recommending it within the useful and informative text.

Try targeting a topic that's got big game; i.e, huge number of followers and lots of questions. Then craft a well thought out and lengthy(in detail) answer to that questions making sure each and every aspect is covered in your answer related to the user query. Craft your answers carefully and diligently so that your answer stands out.
Another bonus tip is to post your answer early in the morning or late at night.

It's still worthwhile to use Quora for generating traffic. Do the research of the most relevant questions related to your business, but use only those who have a sufficient number of followers. Write quality answers, and by quality I mean providing value to the readers. Put in the link discreetly, don't just advertise, you'll get deleted. Quora works best if you have more people with different accounts working on answering.

Thanks for the tips, can you show me some good examples?

Some of my articles have 30000-40000 repins on Pinterest, I would like to promote them on Quora, I think they would give good value.

Still a decent way to drive targeted traffic. Not for you if you want to use aff links, as they get deleted almost instantly. But if you feel like writing really useful in-depth answers, then give it a try. Make sure you read Quora's policy on spam (as it's the main thing your answers might be deleted for).
