Help me get local customers to sell product too

OK, have been thinking of posting this for awhile but never sure how.

Let's say I am trying to sell liquid oxygen to customers but only in certain geographical area.

A friend is helping with building websites through wix and I have like 7 domain names.

I only care about getting customers in a certain geographical area. I have looked at CPC and really don't even know what that is but it seemed reasonable.

Is adwords an option? Can I do that for a certain geographic location?

Here is my goal. I want customers to go to one of my websites and call me. Thats it. Just like liquid oxygen, this is a product they won't have to spend any money on.

Lets get this started. Obviously none of this matters if I am not on the top of google for certain keywords. So what do I need to do to get that?

So far all I have is domain names purchased and I put my geographic area in the domain name. Figured that would help.

I've never made a dime this way but these customers are out there. I just need to find them but in a somewhat local geographic.

    If only it were as simple as

    Get a domain and hosting and build a web page.

    Your first job is to define who your target audience is.

    Then 'Where do they hang out?'

    Then 'How can you get information in front of them'

    Then 'find out what they are searching for?'

    Then 'create content that will be of interest to them'

    The quick and easy [but not cheap] way to get the information in front of them is to use

    Faceboook ads and google ads

    You'll need to provide more information to get much more help I'm afraid.

      I know all these answers.

      1. Hang out mostly at home
      2.Being 1st on the internet
      3. they are already searching for this product. I know because another company referred them to me but now are doing it themselves


      Here's the deal. This is a tangible real life product. Not some pie in the sky internet marketing dream. I'm not looking for "discount mortgage loans" or something like that.

      It's for my own business I have now. I just want people calling me saying " yeah I am looking for this" Or submit their info on my site and I will call them.

      Hope that helps.

      Also if CPC for certain keywords is like .50 cents and my commission is $300, it cant surely be that easy.

    When someone googles something like " liquid oxygen", I want my phone number and my page to come up first but only for a 70 mile by 70 mile geographical area.

    Thats the goal.

    If I have to spend some $$ to have this happen, thats fine.

    The way it has been in the past, they would call another company and that company would give them my # and they would call me.

    It sounds to me like you want to get in the Google local '3 Pack'. Once there, you'll show up for local geographical search terms at the top of page 1.


    As Jeffery said, you should head over to the Offline forum.

    I have an offline business, and a lot of customers come through google places = google maps and google myy business. You should set this up asap and keep it well updated. I even got someone from google on the phone to help me with this once.

        and no one from g was "near my account" ... they were on the phone, answering my questions on how to get listed in the industries and for the particular keywords I wanted to get listed for.

          Have you noticed a google page?

          At the very top, if the search is competitive, you get Google ads; then, usually, Google maps, the organic.

          The best way is to be at the top of each. If ads is not feasible - you don't know how to make it work - skip that.

          Do not skip maps, rritz and savidge are right.

          The reason, Google has reviews with stars, and people look to compare ( which means you should get a few 5 stars), it lets you upload images and videos, and other good stuff, and it breaks up the traffic for you. (Don't forget to set up your analytics to tell you how many visitors come to your site from maps.)

          And, last and most importantly, people trust sites in maps more than other sites; they seem to think they have Google's blessing.

          When it comes to organic, there are two ways.

          For many keywords, some big directory pops up in the first few positions.


          That means you have to have at least one page that beats everybody and to be number 1 in the top directory.

          In my area yelp is the one to beat for most things; Zillow for real estate.

Goto Google type in "Dentist" ill wait.. ok your back... what did you notice about the searches? They were all geographically close in proximity no? here is a fun one Google Australia as in: https://www.google.com.au You should be googling whatever in australia.. try "Dentist" here... and what happens? YOUR local listings.

    Now take this a step further. goto one end of town and google something with your phone and take note of the listings.. now travel to the other side of town and do the same.. The listings will be within proximity of where you are at. meaning both sets of listing should have a few similarities but the order that they fall into will be different based on proximity

    The post by rritz above... read it, and read it again. print the damn thing out, research it to no end, and that is your answer.

    Dont waste your time with 7 sites. you need one.. dont waste your time with the city name in the URL.. to late for that.. think BRAND. Bills Liquid Oxygen or whatever. Boise idaho liquid oxygen is all fine and dandy but if you come rolling up in a truck that says Bills.. there is a disconect.

    Coming from the world of a subcontractor - doing the work for someone else vs actually owning and running your own business is a HUGE jump. It honestly will not happen over night.. you have a lot of learning to do. Have some patience and put in the work and in 2 years it will be worth it. - or just get another job OR better yet get a job and work on this during the 6 hours you arent working to pay the bills or sleeping.

    Hi the Great One,

    First of all a great post by "savidge4", just go through it and prepare the plan accordingly

    Now, as "savidge4" mentioned earlier no need to have 7 websites or geographical area in domain name. Simply create a content rich website which actually attracts customers to buy your product or the customer will call you. Keep in mind to use Call to action button and you can also offer one free eBook to your users as this will further enhance the client retention.

    Adding more, be patience and if you have good amount of money to put in PPC then go for it but my suggestion is to first try your hands in SEO. After 3 months measure the success of SEO and then try to jump in PPC.

    If you are a local service provider then try google local search ads. Also, if you want to run PPC ads then run call only ads.

    Build an audience list and try to use re-marketing campaign and also put focus on email marketing.

  • First, you have to decide your goals. Really, what do you want? after that, Google and Facebook ads are heavy chance to get customers.

    Google Maps is a good place to start but what I think is best for your situation is NextDoor.com. On this platform you can focus on a specific neighborhood only. Depending on the size of the neighborhood you might need a broader reach to cover the area your looking for.
    Have you looked into this yet? You really should and I think it might be the solution that you're looking for.
