The Best Way to Promote Your Opportunity Is to Help Targeted People

I am in the middle of the desert now, in Oman.

Imagine if I grabbed a bull horn, walked outside and screamed at the top of my lungs that I have 126 eBooks on Amazon.

Great. Some camels may tune in. Some Omani's may listen. But since I am in an off the beaten path place, few speak fluid English here. So I'd be wasting my time. Even if I bullhorned my 126 eBook message 10 times daily, for the next 20 years.

Yet many bloggers and internet marketers do this online.

They believe that shouting about their opportunity to anybody in ear shot is the best or only way to promote it, leading to guaranteed failure.

Mall Visit

The other day my wife and I bought our minutes for the phone. We spoke to a Pinoy dude working the counter. Like virtually all sentient beings I contact and chat with for longer than 60 seconds, I mentioned my blog and what I did. His eyes lit up.

I chatted about seeing his gorgeous country eventually, speaking a message resonant with him. He asked questions about blogging. I spent a few moments helping him learn about blogging. I assisted him. I served him. He instantly fired up his phone and bookmarked my blog link, lighting up when I told him I wrote over 100 eBooks on Amazon.

I know he'll buy something; he has to. I was so generous, helping him for minutes, being of service, showing the love, and he will show the love back by following my blog and by buying something. Happened countless times during my world travels.

Helping 1 person for free today is the clearest way to promote your opportunity today because showing people love and rendering service is the quickest way to get love aka get served money. This is the best way to promote your opportunity because it turns people served into brand advocates, which inspires those people to promote you to more fans, then, the fire starts and fans will passively promote you around the clock, all over the world.

Help people for free, patiently, persistently and generously, and you will tap into an incredibly powerful way to promote your opportunity and to grow your business.

Although I wholeheartedly agree, it is not really the type of scenario that helps someone who has an eCommerce store that sells covers for pool tables. Being able to sit down next to a random person who is interested in that is pretty close to shouting at the camels.

This is something few people seem to understand when they get advice from the SEO gurus - Neil Patel, Rand Fishkin ... whomever. Marketing things in the "how to make money" world is totally different than marketing to consumers and what works for one does not necessarily work for the other.

Not saying that you can't have a nice buyer's guide on your pool table covers website. I'm just saying that the opportunities to be magnanimous by helping others are few and far between, comparatively speaking.

    100% agree.

I did not make any money while trying to serve so many different type of audience.

Now I focus on one type of audience, find out their issue, and create content to help them solve their issue.

Sadly, yelling in the background is what too many newbie Facebook ad marketers do...

Pro-tip: use sales funnel marketing using interest targeting

THEN retarget prospects when they mosey too close to your conversion pages

Otherwise, you'll be yelling at camels in the desert DIGITALLY SPEAKING... and be thousands of bucks poorer for it
