Can building back-links too quickly hurt my articles

Good day to everyone, I found a simple strategy that get's just about every keyword rich article that I write to at least the 2nd page of Google. Some of these keywords are pretty competitive, at least for the top spots and the keywords also have pretty good search volume even for exact match.

My question is can I hurt them by building back-links too quickly?

In my past experience I have gotten pages to rank in the to ten for very good keywords but as soon as I start to build back-links they start to fall.

Does anyone have any idea what I should do to be safe when building back-links so that I help instead of hurt my pages?

It is normal to hit the top ten on new pages for a short time and then fall back down in the SERPs. I think you would find that even if you did not start to build backlinks that your placements would have slipped down anyway.

I believe you would have to build an extraordinary amount of backlinks at one time to get into trouble. Every day someone launches a mass advertisement campaign that can get them thousands of links in a short time. You may trigger a look by a real person but if you are developing your links white hat then there is nothing to worry about. This from Google themselves.

Thank you, so what exactly would be considered building links white hat?

I mean, would something like creating profiles on sites link in Angela's list be white hat!

I'm cautious of saying anything against Angela's List since some people here will attack.
But in my honest opinion I believe Google is looking hard at such things and these types of links are falling to the wayside.
Google employs some brilliant people. I'm sure that someone that works at Google is assigned to peruse the largest IM forums and such, finding what people think and what people are doing to overcome Google and all of it's policies.

I think your best backlinks are going to be from related sites where you either arranged to have them put up a link to you by convincing their webmaster or they do it on their own because they like your content.
One quality link is worth 1,000 weak links. At least that is what I have found in my years of dealing with Google.

I think too many links too soon to an article or site can hurt you .

I am willing to be the sacrifice to prove my point .

All warriors .... Pm me and I will give you one of my sites. Everyone link to it .

If all warriors do this I should get about 8000 links in a couple of days .

I am sure this will destroy my site but hey ... I am willing to do it just to prove a point .
While you are at it ... I will give you a list of all my sites and just let you link to everyone of them.

Come on fellow warriors destroy my site with all those back links .

      Hi Troy,
Well ... I do this every single day of my life...lol I just did 1,200 backlinks to 1 article last night and it has top listing. I have done 5,000 in one day and got top listings with nothing hurting me.

The trick is to use different anchor text and change it out. The fact is google or no other search engine can be in all places 24/7 and as such they have no idea how many links you built in a day..

How quick are you building your backlinks?

If you get 50,000 backlinks a day by buying them then yes, your page won't be there anytime soon.

However, this is a normal process since Google tend to find your new page and rank it high at first, after that the page will start to go down naturally.

Anyways don't sweat too much, this is a process and you need to build your backlinks slowly from time to time to see your page go back up again.

No it will not hurt you at all.. You can very well build several thousands every week if you choose to do so. You do not however want to build all those backlinks with the same exact anchor text.

Say you have 3 keywords you want to target.. Then build 300 backlinks for keyword1, another 300 for keyword2, and another 300 for keyword3.

The next week start back over again with the same process. I am using 300 as an example you can do a 1,000 if you wish.. The point is change your anchor text out to target other keywords.

Well, I think there's no one easy way to keep consistent rankings, especially in the beginning of a page/site.

When an article is fresh and gets some quick backlinks it can stick for a while, but Google is more sophisticated these days and wants to see consistency and relevance to keep your pages up on top.

    What's funny...

It seems that if you build a lot of links to articles that are hosted on an authority site like EzineArticles... they can start ranking higher, since Google trusts this site

    However

If you start building too many links to a new domain, Google will be more suspicious and I would take it slowly here.

    That said...

I would not concentrate on building too many links to other people's websites (e.g. EzineArticles) since I am basically building THEIR business this way and not mine. You still depend on them. Sure... some quick buzz strategy can help, but in the long run I would concentrate on building links to my own properties.
