Poll - What Is Your Truth About What Works

Hi Warriors,

In another thread it became blatently apparent that we all have different preferences for what activities we prefer and that we make money doing effectively.

It's easy for someone wondering what to do to get confused by the apparent contradiction in what people are saying when one person says 'X works' and then another says 'X doesn't work, Y and Z are much more effective'.

In reality, many strategies work and all that really matters is how they work - for YOU.

And no-one else can tell you that.

So, complete the poll and let's find out what is working best for a larger sample of the forum members.

Andy

I'm probably different to most of the people who take the poll, because I offer a service. As such, the majority of my revenue comes from existing clients and referrals.

I used to market my services on WF, but for some odd reason my revenue went UP when I removed my sig.

I can't explain it, but I'm not complaining either.

    Kindest regards,
    Karl.

I know what you mean Karl.

I've got several businesses in various forms and most of the money does not come from doing what are consider traditional IM strategies.

It's probably why people never get the answer they expect when they ask me about their business - sometimes I question things which are so fundamental to their business that they never really questioned them before, and although it's easy to get defensive and think someone is criticising your model, often it's not getting the basics right that screws up all the hard work you put into the business.

Like with your sig, sometimes things don't have the result you would logically think, so it's best not to make assumptions and to go with what YOU can make work -just don't expect that it applies the same to everyone else

I definitely KNOW it doesn't apply to everyone else...

After coming back to the thread and thinking about it more carefully, I think I've realised the reasons that sales went up - it's a strange principle if it's right.

The poll results so far are pretty interesting, though it's early in the game.

Pretty much split all over the place, as I expect they would be.

Should be interesting to see what the majority of the folks here think.

Good poll Andy. That's thinking on your feet.

My thoughts from the other thread:

I'd say all these methods of generating traffic have their place. But if your goal is sales (not just raw traffic volume) what works most effectively will very much depend on the demographics of your market and the product you're selling.

For example, if I'm selling a gaming system to 20-somethings, Twitter, Facebook, Ebay, PPC, and YouTube would all be good places to be focusing my marketing efforts.

In this case, article marketing, maybe not so much.

However, if I'm selling a health-related product that appeals to the 35+ crowd, article marketing, SEO, and PPC (with a kick-ass sales page) is probably going to get me much better, targeted traffic. That's cause this particular demographic is information-hungry. They want the details - and lots of them - before purchasing.

And if you're selling IM-related stuff, JVs are usually, hands-down, the most bang for your buck.

So, really, it comes back to dispassionately evaluating your product and knowing your market before you throw your time and money at any particular traffic method.

            IMHO.

I tossed in my vote. I agree with you though, what works for me might not necessarily work for someone else.

That's what's so great about IM...the diversity and options available to everyone!

And to further confuse things, different strategies will work better in different situations.

Sometimes PPC is like a virtual ATM and others it's like pulling teeth. So is it good or bad? It's both, you just need to know when to use it.
