Ezine Articles -- Affiliate links?

by J Bold

For those of you who do article marketing on Ezine Articles, are you allowed to put straight affiliate links (i.e. in the resource box? Or is it only allowed to put your own website URL there? So, basically, you have to have your own website to be able to post a link? What about a wordpress or blogger blog URL?

Thank you for your responses.

No, they don't allow that anymore. You'll have to send them to a landing page first. A redirect may be allowed, but it's been so long since I've done it that I don't know anymore.

Redirects are allowed from a top level domain name.

That's good to know, I didn't think they allowed any affiliate links so I never really tried, but now its good to know they do allow redirects.

As stated earlier in the post, you will notice conversion increases if you have a quick pre-sell page to send them to. you don't need tons of information on that page either. You could try this...

Go to the site you are promoting and pick 4 things you can put into a bulleted list
Create a headline that sells a benefit to the customer
Have an opt-in box and offer a free report
Find another product similar to this product that you can promote and there is your follow up recommendation down the road to this customer

Make more money with the same customer...

Why do some people always want to cheat article directories and then brag about their cheating on forums that the owner of EA and other article directory owners visit regularly?

I wonder how those who work out these cheats would feel if they owned sites that perform a time consuming and in most cases free service to others had their site terms and conditions constantly ignored and purposely taken the whiss out of.

Affiliate links are banned for good reason on most article directories, and as other posters have stated in this string it's better for your business if you use a landing page.

Apart from that there is something going on at the moment with redirect misuse that is making me seriously consider banning redirects from my directories. If I have a problem then so do other directories!

    Hey redicelander,

Depending on what your focus is you may find more benefit to sending the traffic your articles generate to a landing page to collect email addresses for future mailings and follow up.

If you are just linking to affiliate products and multiple niches then this would prob be too time consuming. Ultimately building a list will bring more future value to you as it grows.

You can add link to your own landing page. It can be a website of your blog.
You can redirect your visiotors with top lelvel domain. But suggest you to use a landing page with preselling or product reviews to make good conversions.

Yes, you can redirect to any page that does not have your affiliate id in the URL.

Redirect would work fine. A domain from go daddy will let you have up to 90 sub-domains.

So if you have a good domain that brands you and its generic enough, you can add a targeted sub domain in front to promote each of your affiliate product.

Redirects are only allowed from top level domain names on EZA. You can not redirect from a sub domain.

If anyone wants to use straight affiliate links, I believe GoArticles will allow this.

If you use GoDaddy, buy a domain, redirect your domain to your affiliate link and mask it (by go to my account-->domains--->yourdomain.com-->forward-->masking). By that you can put it on the resource box.Best regards.

I know a few people who've had their accounts banned for doing that. Ezinearticles do go back and check over articles and their links now and again.

I am always wondering why people hesitate to build a good preselling or review page. It has major impact on conversion rate. I have tested this in very hot niche. Redirect with TLD was converting at 0.5% where as the review stlye landing page converts at 5%+

        Note the difference...

Exactly - if you can write a killer presell you'll nearly always do much better. I have one (one page) presell that converts at about 12% - a friend of mine promoting the same product with a redirect only gets 1-2% conversion. I would never promote a product without a presell these days - I think it's mostly newbies that seem to think redirecting is the way to go.
