Domains Coming Up for Renewal. What Would You Do?

I have about 20 of my domain names coming up for renewal with GoDaddy. Many of these domains are hosted at BluHost.
When I got the names privacy was included but even with a discount I would have to pay a few hundred Just for the privacy this year.

So I could renew at GoDaddy and remove the privacy leaving a box number and my phone number (required) and name?

or

Move them all somewhere else and get a cheap rate. If I do this do I also have to do something at Bluhost where the websites are being hosted at?

or

Ante up the bucks and pay for privacy because the hassle of the other two is not worth it. (I don't know what would be involved)

Thoughts thanks!

There are plenty of places that offer free privacy. Personally I think its lame that godaddy doesn't. I get the feeling it isn't an expensive thing for them to do, lol.

You can also get a break on the price with going with another registrar because they want your business.

I think namecheap has free privacy.

As far as having to transfer the domains over, it isn't that hard. Just ask the place you are transfering to for help. They want your business!

You don't have to do anything with Bluhost. When you move the name, the settings will transfer. I would go ahead and move to a registrar offering free privacy. I use ResellerCore for all my domains.

NameCheap (Whoisguard) privacy fee cheaper and you can get package if you have many domains.

If you transfer your domain name to other registrar, what you need to do is update your Bluehost DNS in your domain name account.

However, your site will be down for a while during the transfer. But it's worth it because it's just one time work.

Previously I was using Godaddy but now transferred to NameCheap.

NameCheap each Whoisguard charge less than $3. If you get their package like 2, 5 or 10. Then you can get more cheaper.

Thank you all. I went ahead and did one of them and so far so good! Here is the procedure for anyone interested for Godaddy to NameCheap.
Allow a few minutes between steps for each to take effect.

    1. Unlock the domain at GoDaddy

    2. Remove the privacy on the domain at Domains by Proxy.

    3. In manage domains at GoDaddy, click on the domain name. Click on request authorization code to have the code sent to your email.

    3. At NameCheap.com add domain name to be transfered into your account in the shopping cart.

    4. Add coupon if available. Currently SWITCH2NC gives 6.99 domain transfers and free privacy for one year.

    5. Buy the "transfer names" at NameCheap. Then add the authorization code GoDaddy sent to your email in the designated area at NameCheap.

    6. Allow time for all to take effect. You do not have to change name servers or do anything at your hosting site as it will occur on its own.

    7. Take your sweetheart out to dinner with all the money you save

It is running me 6.99 per name vs. 17.98 for one name with privacy.

Move them to namecheap.com ... Privacy as low as $1.88 per domaian.. They do run promotions with free privacy for transafers, not sure if they have one going on now.
