Selling or passing of list

I wanted to buy someone from let's call him Mr A but I hit a problem, my internet died during the transaction.

I received an email, yes I had got as far as putting in my email address asking what the problem was and could they help.

They did, and the transaction went through.

But, they put in my name into the autoresponder, and they did what a lot of people do they spelt my name incorrectly. Not a big deal. But I always use Bev when signing up for lists.

I'm not complaining about being on his list, because I have received good content from him.

However, in the past month I have received emails from Mr B, Mr C do I need to go on, but I know I have never signed up to their list, and every single one of them have spelt my name incorrectly.

Could it be Mr A has sold or passed on his list, because the one thing I would never do is sign up for a list with the wrong spelling of my name. People might think it is wrong but it is the way I spell it, it is on my birth certificate, it is on all my legal documents.

Any thoughts

List renting is a popular practice, list owners make money for every name others promote to.

If you bought something then you're considered more valuable and there is a better chance for them to sell something to you again, especially a complimentary product to the one you just bought.
