Quick question about Wordpress Privacy setting. not that big a deal.

One of my mini sites is #12 on google with quotes and #13 without quotes. But i noticed that only my site url shows up in the search results, it doesn't have any of the descriptions i set up for it.

Anyhow, on wordpress on under SETTINGS on the PRIVACY link i had completely forgotten to change it. It was set on " I would like to block search engines but allow normal visitors" so i changed it to " visible to everyone including search engines".

My question is. Is this why only my url is showing up on the search engines? I mean don't get me wrong, i'm glad its at #12 but i was just wondering if this was the case. Only my url shows up but no description of the website.

Oh and i am using the all in one SEO plugin. I mean because even if it was set up to "block search engines" how did it get to #12? I know its not a big deal but i was just curious.

If you are using the SEO plugin then you should see at the bottom of each post the area for putting in keywords and description that you want for that post.

    Noindex

Google doesn't store the web page, but knows it is there, just like if you blocked your whole website with Robots.txt... that happens too.

Which is why Google still return something in the results, people link to it, so it might actually be important.

So you get a listing without a snippet, unless you are listed in DMOZ or Yahoo, in which case Google can opt to use their description.
