Sniper Domain Questions

Hi,

I just finished the Google Sniper training and have a couple of domain-related questions:

o Where can I get the best price and service for regsitering a lot of (20-30) domains?
I'm sure customer service varies a lot between vendors.

o I've found some decent Sniper niches to pursue, but the .net/.org/.com target
domains are already taken, but only parked and non-developed sites.

o Would you make an offer to purchase those domains or just come up with a domain
name variation that's available?
o How would I determine the market price to offer?
o What variations can I use that won't jeapordize the Sniper strategy?

o When you find a target domain that is available, do you tend to reserve all the
variations of it (.com and .org and .net)? If not and they're all open, which
one would you prefer to reserve?

Many Thanks

George

wow,so many questions.I think Godaddy.com will be a good choice for you to purchase your domain name.As to the question "do you tend to reserve all the variations of it?",my answer is yes.If you can afford this,it's wise for you to register all of them.

    Thanks for the answers!

I guess I've seen people in this forum ranting about the horrible customer
    service at GoDaddy.

Anyone have any suggestions on the questions about domain name
    variations or purchasing parked ones?

    Thanks

Godaddy's incompetence and horrible customer service lies with it's hosting program, not domains, IMO. I have 300 domains registered with them and never had a problem. For 30 or more domains, you'd get a better price by calling them. They give discounts over the phone that they don't have on their website, but be prepared for them trying to sell you the kitchen sink also. Just be firm and see what deal they offer.

Anyone have any experience using subdomains for this method? Would they be more difficult to rank?

Subdomains will not give you the ranking
juice your looking for, however I use them
      with trademark terms.

Search for "Google Conquest Bonus" and my Google
Conquest sniper site is a good example of the subdomain.

However, I never would use a sub domain on a term that
is generic. The power of the domain is well worth the investment.

Forget Godaddy, they'll make you pay for stupid extras, their control panel is confusing, and you face promotion everywhere. Namecheap is the simplest, fastest and clearest interface I've ever worked with. If you want discount for multiple domains just ask for it using live chat.

I would buy all the good extensions for your domain. Com, org, net make no difference in sniper strategy, (just avoid .info), the buying keyword is important as a domain name and the proper on site seo.

Your domain name does not have to be 100% precisely as your keyword, you can make a tiny tweak if you have to pay a premium for already registered domain, ex.
MYgroomweddingspeach.com (i know it's silly but shows my point).

I know nothing about G sniper, but if all the top domains are taken are you sure its a niche keyword worth going after?
    Notice i said keyword,not niche.
I use namecheap as my domain provider.I use Bluehost as my hoster.
Do not use the same peolpe as your domain and hosting. They could keep you hostage if a problem ever arrises.
If i get a .com,and dont have the extra money,i dont worry about the other domain extensions.Tops is .com anyway.
Im waiting some answers in another thread about[name.com] domains.
Friday specials, check them out but also check out the thread here also about them.

Thanks for the great info David.

Your domain name does not have to be 100% precisely as your keyword
So, you're saying, with regards to the Google Sniper strategy, that a minor tweak does not adversely affect the ranking potential of the site?

I wouldn't want to start a Sniper project off on the wrong foot

    Thanks Again

Do NOT use GoDaddy! They will screw you over. They hold domains hostage and all kinds of other nasty stuff.

I finally got smart and switched to NameCheap. They have good prices, great customer service and have never tried the garbage that GoDaddy is infamous for.

You might be able to find a registrar that's a tad cheaper, but a lot of them are GoDaddy resellers and aren't the most reliable.

One suggestion: you could set up a blog on blogger with the domain name you want and see what happens. If it brings in money, then you could buy the appropriate domain (or not). If Google Sniper works as well as George says it will, the Blogger will show up quickly so you'll get your result quickly - before you spend any money - and then you can buy the domain you want.

I think what is important is that you at least get your main keyword in your domain name. If you have to add something to the front or the end shouldn't make a difference, as long as it makes sense.
I have also finished the Sniper course so..........what niche are you targeting LOL.

I also use Namecheap and I host with Just Host. Never had any problems.....I definately do not recommend Go Daddy....especially their hosting (cannot handle some PHP scripts - I got locked out of my OWN account LOL )

    Good Luck

Exactly what I do! Namecheap and JustHost. Never had any problems whatsoever with either. My first 20 or so domains were on Godaddy and they were such a pain with all the upselling and so SLOW. Best decision I ever made was to forget about Godaddy (especially their hosting).

I have a few sites on Hostgator too ... haven't had any trouble with them but seriously they need to send more info out when you sign up. It's hard to find things

    George,

I would purchase in no more than batches of five domains.
Once you have the five you can buy more. You will find
that takes a bit of time to launch the sites unless you
start to get wicked with automation (no not scraping ...).

    And ...

As you learn the method you will get better at picking
niche markets, thus if you buy 20 now you may not
be as sharp at domain selection and niche market
targeting as you will be in the coming months.

Thanks for the advice everyone. However, I have read many domain-related threads
here that argue exact match keyword domains make a difference versus partial match.
So, I'm still hesitant to add a prefix. Any snipers out there have experience with this
    aspect?

If I do pursue contacting domain owners to purchase their parked domains with my
target domain name, how do I figure out a fair market price and also determine that
their site doesn't have a spammy history that I'm inheriting?

    Many Thanks
