How to get real traffic to my affiliate links?

Ever since I have been trying to promote my affiliate links but I have never got a single referral or sale.

I have been online day and night trying to study and research more about traffic since I have learned that the first success in the affiliate business is having a great target of audience to refer and promote my products.

I am also thinking of purchasing a cheap start up website which will be my business landing page to transfer my audience on, but yet I am still not sure which kind of websites are best to buy and promote my affiliate links, products and apps.

Tell me if I am wrong or right when I say a website is the best connection to build a great foundation of any online business to transfer my affiliates and create a profitable community of buyers and sellers.

Entrepreneurs I would like to hear your best options on the steps I should take to build a successful business than just getting traffic without any income.

I would be very happy and thankful to get help.

Openly looking for a tutor and mentor.

Yes having your own website is the best choice for you to make.

Wordpress offers a free website, but better still buy your own domain from around $10 from Godaddy.com and host it on Hostgator for $20 per month using Wordpress to design your website.

Wordpress is easy to use and has lots of good free as well as paid options.

Have an autoresponder to build a list from visitors to your site. Aweber is a good choice.
Once you have your own list of subscribers, they will become your long term clients that you can send information to and make sales to over the months and years ahead.

Once you build a raport with your list of subscribers you will be able to include affiliate links that they will purchase from making you profits.

There are plenty of ways to get traffic to your website.

Using Youtube is a good free way - upload videos with links to your website - they rank very well and can get you a lot of traffic.

    Hope this helps.

  • You can drive traffic to your website if your website is positioned to funnel traffic into an opt-in to capture leads.

If you have a great website, but it doesn't lead traffic to a purchase or to opt-in to an email list, you won't make any money.

I personally would focus more time on building a landing page, specific to a product. I would then have a free product to give someone to opt-in to your email list. I would then target traffic that is already interested in your niche (affiliate product) and work on getting this free product ad in front of them.

If you want to use a website for affiliate products you really should make it a blog and use SEO to rank your blog posts.

What have you tried so far?
How long did you try doing each of those things?

Do you have an ideal audience profile? Are you constantly updating it?
Without doing those things, you won't be able to know what, when, where, why and how to cost-effectively drive the right traffic consistently to the most suitable offers.

But with an accurate, updated ideal audience profile -- You'll be guided on what, when, where, why and how to do any relevant activity for successfully promoting the right offers across the right niche markets.

Your accurate, updated ideal audience profile can effectively guide you on the right types of viewer-facing platforms and also the right types of content to buy or build and manage.
It can be a site. A blog. An app. A magazine. A software product. A hardware device. A storefront.
You can publish an article. A blog post. A social media post. A news story. A PR. A video. A PPTX presentation. A book. A podcast.
Anything that's a significant component of a sales funnel aligned to your business objectives and to the relevant needs, habits and preferences of your ideal audience.

    Online. Offline. It doesn't matter.
What matters most is your chain of strategies, techniques and tactics for promoting your brand, content and offers across your target niche markets, and for clearly communicating the right messages to your audience.

And you'll know those things by consulting the fresh details of your ideal audience profile.

Again, that depends on the relevant shopping habits, content viewing preferences and online / offline social activities of your target audience.

For example, I've been running a tech startup in the outsourcing industry for the past 12 years; and

Without a website -- I closed my first B2B (business to business) contracts with North American software firms (each with more than 150 employees) in 2006.

What I did was to formulate custom value propositions for each of them.
I then sent it via email and fax.
Next, I informed them through the phone and social media about my emails and faxes.
I then strategically reminded them that it's best for us to go on a video call or phone conference to discuss my proposed solutions in more detail.

So after our appointments, I managed to successfully convince them to sign up for a renewable contract with a 3-month trial period where they can choose to cancel any time.

I used their deposits to build, train and manage the manpower teams required for fulfilling our contracts.
They all chose to renew to longer term contracts with bigger requirements.

We're still working with them today.

And I continue to use the same process, but this time mainly through LinkedIn InMail.
We just have a Facebook business page today. Still don't have a website.

But we're continuing to close contracts for our multimedia marketing teams, software development departments and multilingual call centers.
These are with overseas and local companies, and also for the ICT research and development projects of our country's national and local government offices.

So again, your strategies and tactics are primarily dependent on your target niches and industries, and on the relevant needs, habits and activities of your target audience.

The best laser pin pointed focused traffic is paid traffic like pay per click Google Adwords, Bing Ads, Facebook Ads, LinkedIn Ads, YouTube Ads, Reddit Ads, Quora Ads, ETC.

You're pros on all of those, no doubt, due to your posting history - can you elaborate on each of them?

What kind of affiliate products are you promoting? Are these products that you have personally used and can recommend or are these just products that have high commissions?

Even if you get a website to put your links on, having a trusting audience will be key to increasing your sales through affiliate marketing.

I'm not sure if you know who Pat Flynn is, but I would check out his blog and podcast "Smart Passive Income." I just sat in on an online webinar he hosted about affiliate marketing and nearly 80% of his profits in the last 5 years (he makes roughly $2 mil per year now) have come from affiliate marketing. He has several courses you can take, but he also gives away a lot of useful information through his blog and podcast.

If you only keep on reading and never implement then you wont make any sale.
You need to be creative and think where your offer would be profitable and what kind of audience would need them then create ad sets for your offers over FB and target those audience and you will see getting sales if your ads and landing page are proper.

Yes I have a couple of sites.

One is an Amazon affiliate site that is in the "scrollsaws" niche the other is in the internet marketing niche.

Amazon is good if you are starting out because you can review just about anything on it.

The challenge is to get enough traffic to your site without paying too much money - so having good content helps.

The answer is very obvious. You want targeted traffic to promote your affiliate offers...so you need to build an email list.

Many new affiliates are to scared (it seems hard to them) to do email marketing and instead try to send cold traffic to their affiliate offers.

As the OP has found out....that does not work.

Before start sending traffic or focusing on generating traffic, learn to build a funnel. Generating traffic is easy, If you have a budget to invest in paid traffic go for bing ppc, It is good for beginners. Then move to Adwords, but it is much more advance. Social media traffic also works good for affiliate marketing. I don't see any other reliable traffic sources other than paid traffic.

Just send visitors to a squeeze page, followup on them via email, and pitch your disguised affiliate link in your emails. Simple. Choose an affiliate program that offers a huge commission, or one that gives you recurring commissions for as long as the buyer stays in the vendor's membership/program.

What are you trying to promote as an affiliate?

If you want to be successful at promoting affiliate offers you should seriously consider building an email list. If all you are doing is driving traffic to the affiliate landing page without first capturing the user's email address you will more than like just be wasting your time and/or money,

With an email list, you can follow up and promote additional offer at minimal cost. In the long run, you will likely find that nothing else compares or generates a higher ROI.

To build a sustainable online business you must focus on building your own email list. Getresponse is a great choice.
Facebook is the most powerful social platform. Join as many groups as you can, related to your offer or service. But do this step by step, not to be banned. 3 groups a day is enough. Then post about your product there but don't spam with links. Engage people first, and then send them information on a private message.
Make your profile a business profile and make friends interested in your services.
Set up a real photo of you on your profile and a cover photo with your brand. It will look professional and when people visit your profile, they will see a real person and will see your product.
