Isn´t it late for "Online Marketing forum" launch?

Hi there, I am thinking about creating Online Discussion Forum in my country. My target would be online marketers and companies/ e-shoppers on the other hand.

Main goals for:
Companies - discuss/ solve their issues, closing a deal with marketers
Marketers - helping with the issues, building brand, closing deals with companies...

I want to invite and "convince" the best marketers to be active and give advices in discussions, but the question is, does the best marketers need new customers? Aren´t they so busy for years?

That´s question for you, would you appreciate new communication channel to get new customers, if you have many?

There is missing something like this in my country, but I am worried I am kind of late.

Thanks for your thoughts! J.

That could be a really good idea. There are many countries where internet use has grown rapidly - where more and more people want to work online...and where a marketing forum would be extremely useful to them.

When looking for 'forums' also check to see if there are Facebook groups where marketers 'hang out' in your country....could be a good source of members for a new forum...

My ducks are absolutely not in a row. I don't even know where some of them are...
...and I'm pretty sure one of them is a pigeon.

It is a good idea. All businesses be they companies or marketers are always looking for new customers to increase the income.

Just because your country is missing something like this means there may or may not be an interest. You will never know unless you try and more importantly try it right.

Thing is.. if you know for a fact that there is an untouched target market and never attempt to touch that market then you only have yourself to blame for.. get the idea?

This very forum was like that years ago when it was owned by a different person. There was a group of people wherein some knew each other or knew of others and the owner simply created this forum where the could meet each other and discuss their online business experiences and ideas. That was then.. look at it now.

That´s good point actually, these people are active on social platforms, but they are not all together on one place.

We have one forum, focused on everything, e.g. making websites, offline topics, legislative, online...

True. The thing about successfully bringing people together is the people usually share the same or similar mindset and when creating a community for that reason it is best to already know at least a small group of like minded people that want something and will share their knowledge.

Many alliances are formed by like minded people.

It really comes down to "do those people want to be together in one place"? Some people do and some do not. One thing is certain though and that is "the internet has become so big that some of the best platforms are just not big enough to bring even a small portion of them together in one place."

Take Freelancers for example. People from Freelancers often say they never heard of the WarriorForum until Freelancer made their members aware of the WarriorForum.

Why not give it a try? Create your own online forum, promote it and give it 12-months? You'll either build a nice little forum with plenty of upside potential, or something you can sell for a nice profit. Plus, what you learn during that time will be invaluable for any future projects.

Starting a forum or any other kind of community site is not very easy.

Let's say you put up a forum and you either pay for traffic or you start posting links to you forum on social media.

Well, people are going to go to your forum and when they get there, there are no posts or very little posts. What will they do? They are just going to leave right away.

So what do you do to solve this problem?

You have to pay people to create accounts and make posts on your forum. It sounds dishonest, but there is no other way.

So how do you do this? You go to sites like microworkers.com and mturks.com and you hire people for pennies to create a forum account and make a post. You can either provide the post to them or you can leave it up to them to think of a question to ask. If you leave it up to them you will have to pay them more and you also have to worry about if the post is relevant or not.

Then you go in your forum and reply to those posts.

This is a simplistic answer, but it gives you an idea of what you can do to make your forum look like people are actually using it and engaging on it.

As far as monetizing your forum, that comes later, after you get the community established. You do not want to turn people away by pushing ads and offers on them everywhere they look.

It's not easy to make money from a forum and it takes patience. Forums are not fast money-makers.

I think you could definitely carve out a niche forum with this idea, only downside is that the time and effort may be arduous work. But there are some tools to help you like Discourse and Websitetoolbox.

What's the point you want to create such forum? What benefit will you get from it (soon)? That's the real question you have to answer before you put your soul to build it. You need to make your first step real. Good luck!
