Ideas for promoting speaking tour (UK)

We are in the alternative / natural health field and have been in business for 20 years. Our company director has been doing speaking tours in the UK and Australia for many years. But our customer base and tour attendance is not growing.

We are starting a new UK speaking tour soon and I am looking for ideas on how to promote it (beyond just our existing list) and bring in new people.

My idea so far is to find health / fitness related websites and blogs and offer to recommend them on our 12K Facebook group in return for them promoting our tour to their readers. I will start looking for potential bloggers / website owners etc.

Any other ideas will be welcome :-)

    Why not promote the tour over Facebook.

    You can upload your current list and build a custom audience to use either for direct advertising or to create LAA.

    You can use the Adwords re-marketing to follow up and bring in new leads that can be reused into your existing audiences. I believe that using the current data and customer base, you can structure more potential conversions over the advertising period. (What actual data do you have from your list? Names & Emails?)

    With the right marketing plan, you could socially double your reach and get more qualified leads for future events.

    Our company director is extremely biased against FB due to an incident a few years ago where a very destructive, psychotic troll discovered us on FB and launched an attack that cost us a lot of money.

      While I have no desire to derail the thread, I would love to hear the details of this "incident."

        It's a long story but essentially a crazy woman in Ireland got us in her sights when she found us on FB and mobilized some of her psycho friends as well. She disrupted a meeting in Ireland and made credible threats to disrupt meetings in Australia. And the sad / scary part is that there is virtually nothing you can do (legally) because these people have no money, so you could sue but the only thing you'd effectively accomplish is losing even more money to litigate it.

    Have you considered that speaking tours may no longer be the best way to get your message across? You don't say how much of your business comes as a result of these tours but whatever it is, you're limiting your audience to those who can physically attend.

    It might be worth thinking about video, webinars or an interactive site - if only to supplement the tours.

      Yes of course I have considered all of these things and have pushed to try to move us in that direction. But the issue at hand right now is about promotion of the impending tour :-)

    Why limit yourself to health and fitness websites?
    I don't know what you're selling, but things that fall into the beauty area of stores around here (make up, nail polish, etc.) seem to me would have people that are into health and fitness too.


    Who is what you're selling for?


    You might be better off placing ads on those websites and other websites that your prospect visit regularly.


    Sponsor speaking tours of people who sell to your prospects in exchange for them putting you in their speeches and whatever material they hand out, with an introduction.

    Don't forget health and fitness influencers on YouTube and Instagram - you might be able to negotiate a sponsored video/post promoting the tour.

    Alternatively if you have some budget you could just advertise to a relevant audience - (location near where your director will be speaking and interested in health).

    On YouTube you can target ads to run in front of specific videos too.

    Perhaps you could promote some sort of contest where people who attend the events will have a chance to win an exciting prize.

    Could you find any relevant podcasts based in the UK and see if they'd be interested in interviewing your director and promoting the tour?
