New website marketing

I am an academic scholar who is in the process of completing a website aimed at helping students in the universities with their assignments at a small fee. I am interested in getting to know how I can effectively market and get my first few clients.

Are you planning on doing paid advertising or no? I think word of mouth to target the university demographic will be the most effective free advertising. Look how fast Facebook caught on around their campus.

A few text messages and everyone will know who you are very quickly if you're providing a quality product. News spreads across students faster than anything we've ever seen before.

Even if you plan to do paid advertising...quality targeted ads for that particular student demographic should have you getting more than enough clients for you to handle.

Are you helping them yourself or is the content pre-made? How exactly is the website going to be helping them any differently than a tutor? The nice thing about a website is that websites don't have to sleep at night...unlike those lazy tutors.

If you provide a little more information, I think we can give you better and more specific suggestions.

I have a small budget for paid advertising for the website. I agree with you that word of mouth is a great way to reach out to students. I am helping the students myself. I also have a team of 10 scholars in different subject areas that will comprise of the start up team.

The first step would probably be knowing what you are talking about. And seeing as your first step in this journey is to come here and post a question asking is that, you probably do not

You can start by doing a search for students group on Facebook. Join them and contribute to the conversations by offering some free advice. After doing that for a couple of weeks, you can then mention your site and the services you offer. When a couple of people have sampled your work and are satisfied, they will gladly give your free advertising via word-of -mouth mentions.

Then you can use the funds derived from those jobs to do paid adverts on Facebook.

    Goodluck with your site.

    Quick questions:

    1) What areas of expertise do you qualify for to help students in all degree categories?

    2) How much would you charge them? Most college students are broke. If they do get a part time job, it's immediately spent on tuition and gas money to get into the club.

    3) How does your website help college students? Is it like a Khan Academy setup?

    4) Why college students?

Regarding point number 2, although true, many many students spend a lot of money on tutoring (and drinking). Friends of mine made a lot of money while in university, tutoring on the side. $20/hr and lower for group sessions. They did very well for themselves! If they have money for alcohol, they have money for extra academic help.

We are a team of scholars in all the subject areas. I am the lead in the team.
on prices, we are looking at anything between $10-$20 per page depending on urgency and complexity of the subject matter.
The website is not like Khan Academy. Students post questions they have difficulty on, and we help them with solutions. Our target market is mainly online students who are working and dont have time to handle their assignments.

Being that you have a website you can create content tutorials showing how your services can benefit the customer.I think that it is better if you use content as the lead magnet before you go for the sale .Once you have visitors on your site you can always promote your services ask questions get feedback .

I would start on Youtube. Figure some unique angle to get people interested.

The weary student trudges home from a hard day at work, only to find his roommate has drunk all his beer and worse yet, his dog has devoured his thesis. He screams, "ARGGG!!" as he pulls out his hair.
