Visitors per Clickbank Hop Rate

I see the metrics where people discuss when it comes to conversion rates after they've gotten the hops (i.e. 1 in 100 hops convert to a sale), but is there a general average as far as site visitors clicking your Clickbank link goes?

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere and I know it'll vary by product and presentation, but is there a general range to shoot for?

Let's say this is for a typical "sniper" style site where the visitor searched for a term that directly relates to your product, and he's led to an article on your site about it.

How many site visitors should it take to get one hop? What's a nice target to shoot for?

    There's to many variables that determine the this statistic. Even tiniest detail may affect CTR. You just won't know until you make it live.

    If your product is what they want/need then you'll see the difference in CR.

    You can really never estimate your conversions, that's why you have to tweak and test.

    The best tactic to increase sales is to direct as much traffic as you possibly can to your site.

      Yeah...was just looking for a range though, or a broad average. For the sake of getting more specific, let's break them down into three separate categories.

      1. They're searching for information about a product, which is how they found your site. Your article is a review devoted to that product.

      2. People searching for "desperation" products where they need a problem solved asap. They've never heard about the product (or you'd assume so based on their search), but it gives them what they're looking for.

      3. Something a little more broad based where you're trying to pitch them something related to the niche that they may benefit them but isn't as urgent in their minds.

      Only one product being promoted per site. Possible to quantify now?

          Hi Alexa - do you mean that 40% of the traffic visiting your site would click on a clickbank link and be recorded as a 'hop' over at clickbank?

          I read somewhere that a typical sales-rate is something like 1 sale for every 100 visits to the sales page. So with a 40% conversion from the affiliate sit that means 300 site visits needed for one sale. Just trying to do the maths and see when I should expect some more sales!

    since you say its a sniper site, one way to look at it is say if it cost you $0.10 to get each visitor to your site, will you be able to make a profit on each sale?

    If not then you have observe the time visitor spends on your landing page/site and see if you observe a pattern. clicktale.com can help you find what each visitor does on a your site.
