Google Analytics Traffic Lost But Not on Search Console

Hi warriors, 2 weeks ago I had a big problem with my hosting (hostgator) and my sites were down for 4-5days. You can check a thread I opened then asking for help Problems With Hostgator | Warrior Forum - The #1 Digital Marketing Forum & Marketplace

Since then I moved all my sites to another hosting and everything is working fine.

However since then according to google analytics, I lost almost all the traffic to the sites that were down but according to search console, organic traffic is the same.

So which is right?

And what can I do to make sure that analytics show the right number?

In case that I actually lost all traffic, how can I recover it fast?

    1) Which is right? - Could be either or neither and you'll never find anyone who knows.

    2) What can you do to make sure analytics shows the right number? Nothing, unless you work at Google and even then, I wouldn't bet money on it.

    3) Is the most important question. You can't recover traffic that you lost; you can only gain new traffic.

    Stop worrying so much about the numbers Google reports and start worrying more about making your site better and marketing it. All the rest will fall into place with or without Google Analytics and Search Console.

      Thanks for your reply however as I am sure you know since you sell sites, even if a site actually gets traffic if I want to sell I cannot tell people to not care about what google analytics show so it's certainly very important!

    Are you not getting traffic now? Many sites remain down for many reasons but the traffic comes back when they went live.

        From what I know webmasters tool doesn't show that much of recent data.

    Google Search Console tells you what impressions and clicks you're getting from the Google search results page. If your site is down temporarily it's likely these clicks and impressions would continue for sometime until Google's algorithm notices your site is no longer up and removes it from the serps. I hope that makes sense!

      These two things are totally different in their nature and function. I don't know what OP is expecting.

      My sites are not dowm now, they were for 5days down 2 weeks ago. I am talking about the difference between analytics and search console the dates that my sites are up.

      Additionally someone else mentioned that console shows older data. That's true but they are only a few days older and when I compare it with analytics I compare the same dates data...

      So anyone who had any experience like that and knows more?

    Why would you tell people anything about where Google analytics shows?


    Speaking of analytics... As per Google, it only tracks data from people who've enabled javascript in their browser. In other words, you will never know exactly who many visitors you had.

        Still do not understand your concern.
        If you were trying to sell them right now, I would. But you are not.

        If you did not change urls when you transferred, things should go back to where they were.

    when you moved did you set up 301 re-directs

    also did you update your google analytics. You should probably go to the support site for google analytics and see what they have to say in this matter

      I don't understand what you mean. Why would I use 301 redirect? The url structure has not been changed...
