hi

i have three 3-letter domains that i purchased years ago

no idea what they're worth, guessing around $10k each, but could be wrong

does anyone know if domain names can be given to kids under "uniform gift to minors act"?

i saw that domain names can be put in an IRA, but do not know about ugma

if ugma doesn't work, any other places you can recommend to sell them besides flippa or sedo?

who do you recommend for selling domain names?

thank you!

Have you considered hiring a domain broker?

I am pretty sure any assets can be transferred to a minor under this rule as long it is worth less than $16k. I would reach out to an accountant to confirm this. I would say flippa is your best bet to sell them if you need to.

My guess is that they are only worth what you bought them for until they are actually sold for more than that.

UGMA wouldn't be applicable anyway, since they are not financial assets, such as cash, stocks, bonds, and insurance products (policies, annuities).

UTMA, on the other hand, might apply, but only if they are already considered taxable assets (which I highly doubt), bringing me back to my original point, which is that they are only valued at what you paid for them and not a penny more until they are sold.

In all honesty, I don't think either applies, though, unless you paid a ton for them to begin with.

They are only worth what someone with the money is willing to pay for them. It's like a home. It can be appraised at any amount, but sometimes it sells for less and sometimes you get more. I would consult with your local CPA about gifting them to your kids and the tax implications.

Is this one of them do any of the others make any sense at all?? While short domains can be desired they also have to make a bit of sense.

        .
Namebio provides domain name sales history, so you can easily check what similar domains have actually sold for.

Here are similar to 8WQ.com that have sold for wildly varying prices.

That does not mean you could not get either more or less for your domain, but it is at least some help to see what the market has paid for other domains.

get a valuation done from flippa or empire flippers or namepros and my advise will be to start something on it. If u have a working site on a domain, chances are it can be sold for 3x-10x more than the current valuation of a domain.

      3 million? Jeezuz...

Hey have you tried setting up something like that OP? Or its just a domain? No site or anything.

You can create even much more value if you try creating a website and add content and gain traffic to it. Will be huge. What niche is this btw?
