Need Advice on Possible Scammer

Hi,

Just got this private message:

Hi,

I am thinking of releasing a new wso, but before releasing it, I think it will be better if i give 10 review copies of it for just $1, you have nothing to loose here, If you don't like the method, I will give you refund.

My WSO is about getting traffic, I am sure you are gonna to like it, I have discussed many methods which you can put into action to get avalanche of traffic to your site, plus I am also giving the audio course, so if you dont want to read the 60 pages long ebook, then you can listen to the audio course.

To buy, please go here:

(Url deleted for obvious reasons. But it was a free blogspot website and domain)

After payment, you will be redirected to the download page.

Thanks

Is this idiot for real? He wants me to pay a dollar to review his product? He sent this message to a bunch of other people with the first letter of their name being "E". I suspect he is just going through the alphabet of the members list and trying this trick with everyone.

Is this worth reporting, and if so, who to? Just seems a bit shady to me. Not to mention cheeky.

Cheers

Alex

    • That confirms my suspicions. What a jerk. I am going to give the helpdesk a try.

  • might be a scam, the part with the blog looks suspicious and also from what i know you give the product for free to people, when you want reviews
  • lol

And i think i was being nice when i replied to him and said this when i got his PM.

Told him that people wont like it :-P
  • I got it too, and I did not even visit his blogspot url. Possible scammer, he cant even get his own domain!

    • He hasn't reached the "M"s yet, so I haven't looked at the copy. But I'm willing to take a guess I can save everybody a dollar...

      1. Put up a sales page on a free blog host.
      2. Join a forum that has Private Messaging.
      3. PM every member, offering a review copy of product for $1. Actual product is optional.
      4. Repeat until kicked off the forum.
      5. Find a new forum and repeat.

  • Hey Alex,

I wouldn't go as far as calling him a scammer.

Spammer - Yes! But he hasn't ripped you off has he?

Given the fact that he seems to be spamming the PM boxes, I'd definitely report him to Allen or the Super Mods!

That's what I do with the spam messages I get.

The funny thing is, after I report them, I never see them or hear from them again.

If this guy picked ten people to send a free review copy to, it might be different.

  • Guys you are talking as if its a person

    its a bot

do not waste your time replying to a bot

more than likely coming from a bunch of different usernames and Ip's

    cheers

  • You beat me to it! I was just going to come on here and complain about that. That's the most pathetic idea I've seen in a while. Seriously, when you ask someone to review a copy of your work you are asking them for A BIG FAVOR because you are asking a busy person to take time away from their work or their family.

And I also don't want to review stuff by brand new people to the forum who I know nothing about - what if they stole it from somewhere? My reputation means a lot to me and I don't want my endorsement on a questionable product.

But asking someone to do you a huge favor and THEN asking them to pay for the privilege of doing a favor - is incredibly offensive.
  • I replied to him and told him I only sell and don't buy.

But, if he wanted to learn how to get cash spending traffic,
he could check out my ecourse, Justin Michie's report and John Reese's course and then I gave him the links.

    Lol.
  • Big Mike, PM sent. I also looked at the top of the message and saw that it listed who he sent the message to - and there were four other names that began with "DA" so I assume he is going through the list of Warriors and sending it to everybody.

    • Yeah, there were four names in the contacts of mine too.

      So that makes sense.
    • If you follow the link in my post a little further up in this thread, to the thread I started before I saw this one, you'll see that he's at least partly a human. Bots don't join the forum, then making 13 not totally meaningless 1 line replies in 7 minutes.

Just like the PM I got. Three other receivers with a username starting with the letter j. Not adjacent to each other in the member list though.
  • Just got it this morning. Here's what it read (with a bcc to the Monkey God):

Please do NOT send me IM's again asking me for money. Thanks.

Instead, you might consider posting message like this in the main forum and NOT putting a price tag on it.

If what you want is an honest review of your ebook, this is the best way to go. If what you're doing is an attempt to collect lots of "ones" in your PayPal account, you WILL NOT be a member here very long.
