Ideas for promoting a scooter rental service?

Any ideas for promoting a scooter rental service?

So far...

There is a webstore and a facebook page.

Scooters are printed with "Rent Me" and a contact number, and are parked in a high traffic area.

Flyers have been handed put and placed in local hotels.

The scooters are also being co-branded with a vintage clothing store.

Any advice or thoughts?

I've been driving a scooter for 5 years as my primary source of transportation. I was sold when I saw the scooters in action. It's an island thing I guess. They were being driven by all walks of life.

Are you doing any video ads or promotion?

Facebook page is staying actively engaged? Regular posts, responding to comments and questions?

    Who/where is your market?

Scooters have branding on them? I might consider paying to have someone ride around the area with your branded scooters. All the scooters here are branded with the local rental company logo. Everyone knows them.

Hold a monthly scooter ride where you get a group of your customers together to go for a ride around town or wherever you are located. Perhaps treat them to a coffee or snack.

Provide guided group tours. Make videos of them for promo material.

Thanks. I really like the scooter ride and guided tour ideas. The scooters do have branding so they'll be easy to recognize. I'll get right on that!

you could be running google adword for scooter. because it is really hard to inspire customers to buy products that are too common in market. you can buy cooter everywhere they sell such as supermarket...

The only way to promote is locally via news, print, facebook, tv, radio...

Hotels are the key (assuming you are in a tourist town) but you need more than flyers. You need to establish relationships with concierges and front desk staff. In many towns, concierges/front desk staff are incentivized (i.e. paid commissions for referrals). They are given coupons to hand out (xx%-off or $xx-off) and there is a spot on that coupon for them to put their name as a referrer or some sort of code you give them that identifies them as the referrer. Then, you need to pay them A.S.A.P. every time they refer someone to you.

Guided tours, as mentioned above, are a great idea.

I live on an island in Florida where scooter rentals are popular. They offer tours around local sites such as Fort Clinch and the historical downtown district.

They deliver the scooters to local hotels.

Along with hotels, see if you can get flyers or brochures into VRBO homes/condos.

If there a tourist information center be sure you have brochures there.

I'd try a Google Search Ad campaign, targeting people looking for 'scooter rentals'. If a lot of people aren't searching that you could try advertising to people searching for 'car rentals'.

Find local businesses your customers patronize

Try to get some promotional tie-ups with those

    Try Youtube video!
Simple video recording of your scooters and some tourists make sight seeing in your town/area might be good for a starter.

As well, a lot of local businesses in tourist areas have space where they provide flyers in their establishments, local restaurants etc.

Tourist areas also tend to have "Tourist information centers" usually run by local chamber of commerce or the city/town itself, they would probably be more than happy to provide your flyers to visitors.

Create content that gets people excited about the idea of using them. On top of this you'd want to sell people on why it's a good investment when they want an easy/fun way to get around. Compare it to other modes of transport such as the rental bikes you see everywhere or the Bird scooters.

Sell people on why what you offer is better and more of a personal experience. An experience is what people want and this is what they're willing to pay for most of the time. Sometimes it's convenience, sometimes it's cost, but experience can trump both of these if you package and present things the right way.

Ensuring your bikes and scooters are in good running order and are properly equipped for safety is also critical for success and goes hand in hand with your customer rentals. You will also find yourself working on:

Advertising and marketing for the rental company.
Re-stocking your retail items, such as company logo t-shirts, hats, and other pieces of apparel, and tourist-based supplies.
Creating service tickets for all repairs not handled in-house.
Buying or updating safety equipment, such as helmets and gloves and purchasing more scooters and motorbikes.
Researching industry trends and new products.
