I have been trying to finish writing a book on a certain site, but other work keeps getting in the way. I have been checking the site recently, and there are a few IMers using it, but not as efficently as they could. The "how" is very easy to do once you've done it once, but the "why" is totally different.

I have read a couple of books on the subject, but the "why" is missing. I know that people read the results you can get, and dive in feet first, and end up missing out big time.
The question is would a course be better, which would teach all the reasons "why" you should do certain things, as well as the how.
Also would a book purely on the why be useful, because once you understand the why, the sky is the limit in terms of what you can use the site for?
