Selling Proprietary Business Development Programs to High Net Worth Biz Execs--How Do I Get Started

Brand new here, at least actively. I have over 25 years of CEO/President experience and expertise in small/medium B2B business, as well as 40 years of off-line sales and marketing selling $100s of millions of stuff for other people. I have developed a proprietary method for CEOs of SMB to organically grow their business and themselves. I have a 40k word book already written and being considered for publication. I have developed a 12 session training class based on the book content that I can deliver by teleseminar or some other method, record the sessions, and sell over and over. My goal is to generate passive revenue from the product sales and book mentoring gigs 1on1. Discretion is important. I want to generate a new pipeline/network for this material and am more than willing to share with other marketers to get me up and going.

I gather I did this backwards, having created the content first and not a website or built a list. The key to me was owning the content/process and having the book back me up as an authority.

1. Does my thinking make sense?
2. How do I attract affiliates?
3. What am I missing?
Thanks for any assistance.

I would think after you 25 years you have made acquaintances with other CEOs/top level executives right? If so I would connect with them and see if they are interested in using your information. Word of mouth and testimonials from executives can prove to be a catalyst for your content. After you get going with this is when I would start with the large scale marketing campaigns.

    Is SMB Small Manufacturing Business
    Server Message Block
Small and Medium sized Business? Which I assume it is, but don't know.

If the latter, then a direct CEO to CEO letter might be very effective. In fact, we tested such a thing at a company I worked at, to test whether a proprietary business growth product (at a very high cost) would be worth pursuing. It was.

I think a little research into LUMPY snail mail, a personal letter CEO to CEO, and maybe even a sample condensation of your booklet would be a good idea to pursue for you.

You can segment your market by size of sales, what category of small business do they fit into and customize your mail piece to match the industry.

    A personal letter.
A "lift" letter of your sales experience.
    A booklet.
A "gift" a CEO might get a kick out of.
    A follow up sequence.

It sounds like you are ready to go. One caution, the bit about discretion. Internet is hard servant to control, once you are OUT HERE, you're here.

So if DISCRETION is a big part of your offering, then a good test of old fashioned DIRECT RESPONSE would give that too you, in fact, could even use it as your "hook" to get them to read it.

    Dear John Jones,

CEO to CEO we understand discretion in business. You and I don't want our competition finding out all of our details, and this is the reason I have chosen to write this personal letter to you. Today the headlines are full of email scandals, email leaks and Internet hacking stories.

Your widget manufacturing business, according to Thomas Register is in the 10 to 15M a year in sales category, and this is exactly the small business I like to help grow into the next level.

    Blah, blah, blah.

You send something which will get OPENED, read by the CEO, and a call to action, or to let them know you will be calling on them.

But, if you mean something else by SMB, then never mind...in my best Rosanna Rosanna Danna voice.

GordonJ....forgive my brevity. Yes, I did mean small medium business. Should have been more complete in my communication. Thank you for taking the time to respond and in such thorough fashion as well. Your insights are very helpful. Thanks again.

Give the book out for free and mentor people for free

If people actually become successful, you get all the case studies you'll ever need to sell your program

People will come to you because SUCCESS is a magnet and BIG TALK / PROMISES don't go that far without results backing them up

    .
BEFORE you go to "passive" income, so-called from affiliates, it is just my opinion, you are jumping over 100 dollar bills to pick up pennies.

Your target is:HIGH NET WORTH Execs. You've got the sales/marketing chops to command more.

Six at 25k and a 5k a month retainer for one year. 150k up front, 30k a month, or 500k for the year, skypeing and talking on the phone.

Getting SIX high net worth executives to attend a two day seminar would be better (MY opinion) than fiddle-farting around giving free ebooks away or finding affiliates...once you have the bigger money, then you can get the book/report/course type money, even outsource this.

Dan Kennedy's "Platinum" Inner Circle might be a good model to look at, and many in his group charge $500.00 to $1,000.00 an HOUR for their consulting.

Jay Abraham had his PROTEGE program 15k to 20k for his 5 day seminar. Many of his group are also $1,000.00 an hour consultants.

With your background and sales, maybe THAT would be something to consider?

Small Businesses will pay a person like you to get to their next level.
