Help promoting affiliate products?

Hey Warriors!

I've been running affiliates campaigns myself for a while now (mostly FB ads to build my list, then promoting offers via email), and I also sell my own digital product on ClickBank...

What I'm wondering is, from all the affiliate tools you get from vendors (Banners, Links, Email swipes, keywords, etc.) What are the most useful tools for you? And what tools are completely useless?

And if you could have a vendor/owner give you ONE specific tool to help you sell their product. What would it be? Ex. A specific training on promoting that product?

PS: I usually use their tools, but I customize them so it's not a 1-1 copy...

Best,
Jonathan

Hi, Jonathan, l have sold products here and elsewhere so couldn't really say what the most effective one is, but script for a self starting promotional video is probably up the top of the list, according to what others say.

As for what l am most interested in grabbing if l am promoting someone else's products? Banners hands down.

    • Hey Tagiscom,

thanks for your reply. Cool, glad you like banners! Have you ever tested if the banners convert better if you co-brand them?

I've seen this at Bluehost affiliate program and many more, where they'd co-brand the landing pages...

There is the million dollar question (for you), most people are different, so the for you question is relative to who is looking to promote your product as each and every person will probably promote using different tools.

Given rather than what tools, but more about the quality of the tools, in that many people just throw up shit, shit banners, shit graphics, shit cheap nasty email swipes, shit nasty reviews and articles, crappy landing pages and the beat goes on.

So rather than focus on one magic bullet, go across the board with all options / creatives, but then slowly add quality to those creative options over and above jamming in crap of which there is a lot out there, and give the affilaite a this is good quallity creatives a wow factor. Of course that would be backed by a good quality product, as you can not put lipstick on a pig.

    • Hi Tryinhere,

thanks for your reply! You're right, most people are different - and so are their promotions and relationships to their audience.

Adding quality to all creatives is a very valid point. No matter if swipes, banners, landers, etc. they all should be great that's right. Thanks!

Disclaimer: I have not used all of the tools out there to promote affiliate products. I haven't had to yet.

So therefore, I am biased to the ones I use the most and best - email swipes. My campaigns and business is built around people knowing me, liking me and trusting me. I use email swipes that are proven to have worked. These email swipes help warm up once cold leads.

Banners, links, keywords etc. work for a lot of people, there's no debating that. For me though, I don't prefer these tools.

    • Hi Palmtreelife,

great that you're building a relationship with your audience! Yeah, with email you got the chance to add in your own voice, tone, and personality, so I'm sure email works best for you. Try that with pre-made banners that don't fit your brand, right!?

All the promotion tools should be provided. Some people might have a list ; so they might send a solo. If somebody owns a site in the niche, they might put a banner. A seasoned affiliate marketer would use all the tools.... so; heavier the ammo the higher the potential to attract huge affiliates.

    • Hey 55sadhikar,

thanks a lot! Hehe yeah, I guess that's right - the heavier the ammo, the higher the potential

I usually just take the affiliate link and do my own thing. I don't want to use the same text as everybody else, and I don't use banners at all.

    • Hey msulcs,

cool - Well, you're at an advantage if you put up unique creatives compared to copy/paste promoters. If you're creative that the best way to go. Glad it's working for you!

Banners are completely worthless due to BANNER BURNOUT

    Same with email swipes

As an affiliate, I would really be excited if a sponsor offered FB user profiling information as well as forum audits

    • Hey Writeaway,

yeah you're soooo right about the banner blindness. I think I never bought something after clicking a banner (I hope at leats )

FB user profiling and forum audits sound interesting. So you'd like to know better who to advertise to, correct?

In my affiliate program (on ClickBank) I offer facebook audience insights and ad examples to show the type of ads that worked...

Would something like come close to "FB user profiling"?

Close. Basically, you need to list out the types of interests most relevant to your target audience.

In other words, do your affiliates FB homework for them. They spend the money on the campaigns. You share the proceeds. A true partnership.

You should also provide a master list of FB groups they can do AUTHORITY MARKETING IN to promote their content which upsells YOUR product

        • Absolutely agree on the FB homework and True Partnership. That's why I'd like to make it as easy as possible for my affiliates, so I appreciate your input here.

Also good idea about the FB groups. Thanks!
