What Niche Would You Say I Belong To?

Hi all,
I sell a training product which teaches people to make money by being a middleman between buyers and sellers in International Trade. This means, being a middleman within import and export.

If I was to market my course, who would you say would be my perfect audience?

I can't target people who are in import and export because they already know how to do what I do.

I need to target a related niche or people interested in making money by making international trade deals.

If I target say Internet Marketers, yeah, some may buy, but it's not highly targeted to the right audience.

Which group would you say is my perfect audience?

As soon as you say " make money by _________" you're in the same "niche" as any other "get rich quick" scheme. It's "business opportunity"....it might not be "make money online" or even "home-based business". But it's biz opp/get rich quick all the same. Reminds me of all the "make money in real estate" offers that are everywhere. You're looking for the same suckers...err...people who are looking for get rich quick schemes...but maybe they fancy themselves a bit smarter than the average person.

UPDATE: I looked at your site and your conversion rates are probably really low. Since this is a high ticket item, you're really going to need to pre-sell/"nurture" (I hate the term 'nurture' in marketing speak) your target audience before presenting the price tag. You'll have a longer sales cycle, but expensive products always do. Anyone that says that expensive products can be sold like cheap incidentals is FOS. This will definitely need a funnel of awareness->discovery->decision. The decision part might be better off being a webinar not a sales page per se. Think about how all the get rich in real estate courses work....it's a free meeting, then selling a 4 figure product....then upselling a 5 figure product....then selling off their contact info to a boiler room lol. I digress, but hopefully you get the picture.

Well, I disagree about it being a "niche". And Biz-Op and get rich quick are NOT one and the same, albeit, snake oil found in both.

Franchising is a Businesss Opportunity. Is McDonald's a get rich quick idea?

Some of the methods used are seen in many Biz-Op markets, but your "niche" is the mid to low level management person who doesn't want to make the climb up the corporate ladder.

NOT the blue collar worker who wants his own business.

Separate and segment. Begin with facts, if you have any. What INCOME can be expected at the high end and then what might the average be?

The idea you don't want anyone knowledgeable is a red flag however, and leads us to think along the lines DRP described, one more scammy scheme.

IF you are legit, and have the evidence to prove your claims, then you would target those people who have the money to invest (or good credit), and clearly state the problems.

Last year, I had an International trade deal fall through because of the current White House, they were just too fearful, because there is often a lot of time between when the deal is struck, and when things get delivered, and a lot can go wrong.

The ideal target might be a 35 mid level manager making over 60k a year who is LOOKING for something better. Being the stuff inside the Oreo cookie, brings a lot of stress with it.

Even then, it isn't so much the WHO (although important), it is what you say to them.

    So, are you legit?

    GordonJ

PS. What sort of a FINDER'S FEE would you offer to someone in USA, who funneled prospects to you?

I also disagree that 997 (guru scam number??) is a big ticket item. Your copywriter got hung up on pitching to IM crowd, but they (Warrior types) are NOT your market.

Is your course basically teaching someone how to broker a deal between two businesses in different countries? And that broker takes care of all the international documentation required to have that product move across the world?

Maybe it's just me, (and assuming I'm correct above) but I'm not sure what value a course on this can provide? One of my businesses is an international regulatory affairs agency. I started it when I left my Federal Government job and became a consultant, which more or less does what you are trying to teach (I think?).

I'm not an expert in every country's import/export regulations. That's a tall order. However, I'm resourceful in finding out what is required to make things work and get products into any particular country so the companies can complete their deal.

A very generalized approach is simply to search the government directory for import/export/customs contacts and reach out to them. Is a course required for this?

I think your pitch may have gone over much better to our fellow warriors if you had said "I created a course to help middlemen better facilitate the exchange of international trade goods. How can I better market this course to that specific demographic?"....instead of "teaching people to make money"...which is basically the definition of a scam as others have explained.

If you have something real, Asia is (was before increased tariffs?) a hot market for selling to the West. I have a lot of clients in that marketplace who do not understand America's regulations and recognize they can do a lot more business if they did.

I would agree with the other responses, your audience would be anyone who is looking to make money quickly and/or easily. Some call those people Entrepreneur's and some call those people who don't want to put the work in or are desperate to make money.

Make money is a huge niche.
You need to see which part you want to go for. There are sub niches in make money niche as well and works well if you do that way rather than main .

Your product should have some special feature that makes people who-already-know-how-to-do-what-you-do feels excited and want to buy it.
Addition: I think you use too much text on your website. Let's assume I click in your website and it punches me with a sky full of text. I think many people feel like me.

You will never "find" an audience for that specific subject... If you are talking about "Making Money"... , you can find THAT audience. Within THAT audience, you have to CREATE ("attract") interest in your specific topic.

I would say to lose the ambiguity, and fear of sharing for free.... and just start teaching the hell out of it right here on this thread with all of your heart, and no fear of losing... Dont be afraid to give your best nuggets up front.

Give it away and give people a chance to be interested... You might be surprised. You could talk on a thread for hours and give everything away that you know in realtime dialogue and attract thousands of people... and if what you are saying is worthwhile enough to draw that, then many will want to buy your course, just to have it in an organized step by step blue print.

Dont ask if people are interested.... Go out on a limb and show them why they SHOULD be. Dont be afraid to give away the farm. There is such a thing as "reciprocation" that kicks in when you give unabashedly.

Asking who is interested, is fear based.... Going out and giving people awesome content and being proud to share your message will create interest.

You are right, anyone who is already doing it already knows, and those who dont know also dont know to look for it.... you have to start sharing it without restraint.

    This was my 6000th post.

You could just sell it here again for a couple hundred bucks, put people into an industry full of scammers, watch them all flounder and then cut and run when people start asking too many questions like you did with the Facebook group that you had. Maybe start a forum for it that no longer exists. Have lots of people work hard, see only one person make any deals, then watch her get scammed too. She got a company swindled in the deal and it caused problems for her. Use a site like Alibaba and have people waste time contacting scammer after scammer to try to get suppliers and then blame it on the people following your course. Yeah, you could probably do something like that.

As with any segmentation technique, you'd have to be specific about your product. What's the core value your teaching material would offer to whoever would buy it? What's the scope of the expertise and knowledge your product would offer? How would you rate it - from the beginner to expert knowledge? If it were the latter, one would not necessarily have to exclude the people already within the export/import industry. These would probably be the questions to start from.

    Hey dude.

I was doing international trading for a couple of years from China. As you are targeting to the people who want to make money by international trade, I would like to give you some of my suggestions.

    1. Some of the green hands are lack of skill of searching the target customer/supplier at the beginning of international trading. You can teach them how to find these customer/suppliers.

2.Though they would find the customers, however maybe they can not completely convince customer to place order, you may teach them how to conclude orders.

3.Basically, You should at least be envoled in the international trade for 3 years, otherwise you should hire people have the expertise experience to teach your target clients.

I will tell a true story about a Chinese guy named Mr.Hua launched his online course for international trading, guess what, he started up from less than 1000 dollars 9 years ago and now he has earned at least million yearly.

For your reference, you can search his company name imiker on google then analyze the traffic by using similarweb.

The average price is $500 for each course, he got 100,000 courses sold in the past years. I won't tell you How much money did he earn.

In this case, I think the online course is good niche with low cost but high profits.

But please keep in mind that success is not coming overnight, he started up by writing blog years by years.

There is a very simple and easy answer to that question...people like yourself.

Now, I order to figure out the number of people who would be interested in your service then you likely will need to do some research and get the statistics on those individuals.

If your capital permits, you may have to do your own studies. If you go that route, then you definitely will need to concentration in specific region or location.

Well that was my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

    Stay cool and successful...
