Am I doing affiliate right?

I found something I can actually back. It solves a problem that can appeal to multiple niches. They have tons of support materials which I really like.

I took a shot at it and I'll outline the steps I took below. The whole thing is meant to be proof of concept along with a learning opportunity for me and it's been invaluable in learning how to do things and what to do/not to do. The mistake I made was choosing just any CB product and not being choosy. My new project is something I would probably use myself and wouldn't mind selling in person or attaching my name to. I picked a work from home sorta thing.

1. Use a service to create a landing page. On this landing page I ask for an email and offer a PDF download with WFH stuff inside the email.
2. Same service provides autoresponders etc. so I set up an autoresponder to go out the day after. They know I'm emailing them. In this email I provide the affiliate link
3. Post on craigsist.

I got about 40 people on my list so far. It's not gonna make me anything most likely but that's 40 I didn't have. And I did it all myself. Mistakes and all. That's good for a proof of concept, now I want to take the things I've learned and practiced and scale them up.

This affiliate is much better than the last in every sense, including providing some really great marketing materials, email swipes, everything. I plan to take a similar course but take a different approach to the landing page like writing up a review, article, something, and use the affiliate-provided marketing materials instead of trying my hand at copywriting. I plan on advertising to the target demographics (also affiliate-provided) in various ways online and off as cheap as possible while still being effective. I read and practice these things all day every day, and I feel like I'm getting better.

Am I doing this right? I HAVE to make this work for various reasons, so I'm dedicatd and motivated. You guys are a great wealth of knowledge and I've learned a lot. What makes or breaks this sort of thing? I feel like, if I create solid content and use it to gently guide people to sign up to the email, then use the email swipes to market, I can't go wrong. They give me everything, demographics and all.

It sounds like you are on the right track. Infact....most people would love to get 40 optins from craiglist.

I suggest you scale your efforts on craigslist and see where it takes you. You can always refine your apporach as learn more and more about internet marketing.

But in the meantime...keep building your email list!!!!

Hey, you are definitely on the right path. Keep doing what you are doing.

I don't know where you are getting your traffic but he is a place I just found out about that is being used by very successful online marketers to send traffic to affiliate products for around $0.03-$0.04 a click: revcontent.com

    Stay cool and successful...

This is great ! Nice work ! A lot of this is just trial and error. WF is great for suggestions but what may work for one person and one product might not apply for you. You are off to a great start. Try tweaking your Craigslist ad slightly and see if you get any increase in interest for a week or two. If you notice a negative outcome then switch back to your original ad or change your advertisement again to see what works best !

You are in the right path.
You are not going to profit from first day. Need to have lot of patience.
You need to Test with different landing pages and do A/B testing.
Once you gather enough information, then you can kick start your successful landing page and start profits rolling.

Nice work! You've seemed to have grasped the basic concept of what affiliate marketing is all about. However, just getting leads won't make you money. You need to understand funnels, and what it takes to build trust and rapport with your leads to ultimately convert them to customers.

Your monetary reward will become the by-product of you helping people reach their goals and solving problems!

    Good Luck!
