Encouragement For Newbies

I guess it's been a little over 5 years since my last post here...WOW! So much has changed!
Just wanted to jump back in and give a little encouragement to some of you newbies out there.

Try not to get involved with too much at one time, you'll burn yourself out!
Find one thing and stick with it.
Hang in there, be consistent, test, test, test and be creative!
Be able to take criticism, deserved and undeserved, learn to laugh it off.
There are only 8 jerks in the whole world!

You have to work at it like anything else, if it sounds too good to be true...it is.
Some people are cut out for IM, some are not!
If you're determined to make a living from home and you're not getting the results you want,
get a part time job to cover the bills until you do.

Don't try to reinvent the wheel. Surround yourself with people who've been doing this for awhile and learn as much as you can from them. Don't give up and don't get discouraged! be persistent and keep pushing forward!

Good luck!

I think it's cool when people come back to the forum after a while and share their wisdom gained from previous experiences. A few of the veterans have done that and updated us with their successes and failures, explaining what they learned from each. That's what makes this place different. Most would come in, learn, get success and never come back.

It was an old joke my mentor taught me to deal with people who always seem to be in a bad mood. He said "Don't let it bother you, there are only 8 jerks in the whole world, they just move around a lot"

Wow , if I had read this post three years ago would've saved me a lot of time

Had really bad 'shiny object syndrome '

Trying my hand at every course and what not that came into my mailbox

It happens, it's easy to get caught up in the next great thing.
I did the same thing, we live and we learn.

I think we have all been there. I did the same thing when I first started online in 2008. That and not using an autoresponder allowed me to waste my first 3 years online failing until 2011 when someone finally helped me get focused on what I needed to focus on. Then I made a whopping $114 my first month and grew from there

Good words of wisdom. It is true that IM is not a bed of roses. So hanging with relevant people can guarantee you success. Also, being patient and ready to learn is the way out. You are better than a million of people who came here learnt a lot and are now too busy making $$$ that they cannot encourage newbies

This quote need to be highlighted and posted on everyone's whiteboard! You grow exponentially when you surround yourself by people that are playing at an elevated game.
