$500K Influencer Marketing Case Study

Hey Warriors!

A couple weeks ago - we created a thread on how this Influencer with 2.6 Million Followers couldn't sell 37 T-Shirts on her product launch.

Today, I wanted to show you guys the other side of things - which is successes people have had with Influencer Marketing. Particularly, this one brand called Feat Socks.

Back in 2017, Feat Socks made the move over to Los Angeles and one of their neighbors in their building happened to be YouTuber Logan Paul.

The Feat Socks created a strategic partnership where they would do a revenue-share arrangement with Logan Paul and create a custom collection of socks tailored to Logan Paul's Followers & Brand with the design of the "Mavericks".

To make that partnership even more interesting, they did a second video where they challenged Logan Paul that if they sold 20,000 pairs of socks - the founder would give him his car. And for someone like Logan Paul - this would be a really interesting content opportunity and create an insane amount of engagement.

The result of these videos? $500,000 in sales and 17 Million Views on YouTube.

And this was when Logan Paul only had 3 Million Followers (now sitting at 19 Million).

Logan Paul had documented this whole arrangement so you can see how it went down in the videos below:

Fast forward to 2018, Feat Socks are still killing it with their Social Media Campaigns - here is one of their latest initiatives that they launched last year for the NBA Finals for Warriors vs Cavs.

You can see the full case study for that in the link below:

Appreciate the two threads that focuses on both unsuccessful and successful Influencer Marketing campaigns.

    Well done Will.

It would appear FeatSocks were Raptors fans who took advantage of this situation to create massive engagement and never had to give away ONE pair of socks. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!

Love hearing about creative marketing campaigns. The lesson we all need to take from these stories is that none of them ever know how or if they will be successful campaigns before they launch. They come up with an idea and move forward to TRY it.

Many of them don't work, but the successful ones will be told around the world and create "overnight" successes.

Great people, I have been an ardent follower of Paul Logan. What I didn't know is that the You tuber is capable of executing such a move. I admire his marketing gift and I am happy for him.

  • Just goes to show that just because you have a lot of followers, doesn't mean you know how to market and do sales. Engagement is just one small component. Just because I find you interesting doesn't mean I'm going to buy something from you.

The tee shirt market is SUPER competitive. If you're just thinking of just dropshipping and running facebook ads - I would highly recommend looking at other options. It's going to take a lot more effort nowadays to compete in that space. Nowadays, you need to have a unique proposition with e-commerce apparel.

If you're looking to utilize the same strategies as FeatSocks, I'd recommend looking at another company called Fan Joy.
      https://fanjoy.co/

Their entire business is comprised of facilitating partnerships with Social Media Influencers and creating different product lines for their fans.

They have partnered with some of the biggest influencers in the industry like Jake Paul, David Dobrik, Tana Mongeau, and Cody Ko. According to an interview with one of the founders, they were on track to do $35 Million in Revenue at the end of 2017.

Realistically, partnering up with a Social Media Influencer (Between 100K - 1M Followers) on a revenue-share product line isn't difficult. You just have to make sure that you show them you have a good quality product that is relevant to their brand and a solid foundation for manufacturing operations.

And make sure to do your due diligence and make sure their engagement is legit.
