I've been foolin' around - Check out the new "Vintage Squeeze"

Some days I get the urge to be silly, to play around a bit, and today was no exception. Was messing round with my squeeze page, trying this and that, looking for something "different" that would attract attention because, well, because it was different.

So I made my squeeze page look like something out of the past, something the Internet generation may already have forgotten exist, much less how to use it. Heheh.

What'sit?

Um...an envelope. LOL!

You can peek at it here: http://www.tina-adams.com

Just thought you all might get a kick out of my moment of goofiness.

    I think that's a great concept!

Maybe add a better (more obvious) stamp, with a postmark, rounded or distressed edges, or even some texture. I would have thought it was a plain squeeze page, had you not mentioned it was supposed to be an envelope. The whole concept gets a bit lost because the design is a little too simple.

Great idea for mixing things up a bit. I'm surprised there isn't more variation in squeeze pages, such as post-cards type ones with a picture of an exotic location and people enter their email address in the signature area below the message. Or how about a sports car front-end pointing straight out of the picture and the would-be subscriber enters their name in the 'number-plate' field, then their email address below. You could use all sorts of cool signage.

    KJ: very nice!

I once had an idea for a "museum" online, but neither the lady I was partnering with at the time nor myself knew exactly how to create the "exhibits". You could probably swing it with no problem.

Oh, and don't worry about the estamp. I was out too. The one on the envelope is a "fake"...in fact, it's a plate. LOL

Steve, yeah. That's what I was thinking.

When folks get used to seeing the same old something the same old way, they tend to start ignoring it for the most part -- like banner ads? I get the feeling most standard squeeze pages are starting to become ignorable so decided to fiddle around to see if I could come up with something different.

Now to see if it also "works."

Yeah, well, that was a post-preservation warning. Put it there for the same reason I did not mention there was 80+ pages of sneaky cool info on the other side of that form. Was afraid the thread would get nuked. <shudder> Can't have that, right? So the warning stands. <Crosses arms across chest and gives a firm nod>

Would love a stamp image...provided I never have to lick it, and stick it on my monitor. Makes things gooey and all that...then I wouldn't be able to open my laptop.

Kevin, that can't possibly be it. Everybody knows anybody who's anybody always does exactly what they're told NOT to do!

Okay, just to test your (and KJ's) theory, ya'll all go over there and opt-in fast! Why? There really is an 80 page thingy you get in exchange for your email address that tells you a whole bunch of stuff about how to create information products and use a blog and write articles and ... and ... gosh, I don't know what all's in there at this point. Go ahead and opt-in, but beware. You might learn something -- or not. Opt-in if you dare! Muhahahah!

The PSP Tube Depot I manage is free for personal use and most of the images are OK for commercial use with a donation to a charity, the amount being at the user's discretion. (See each artists page for commercial use permissions, The most prolific artists allow commercial use with a charity donation, Jecajo, Billy, Restless Concepts *that's me!* etc.) Donations are not monitored and the user's honesty is just assumed.

23,500 images, most are 3D. Most are in .PSPIMAGE format, to change to .PNG, just rename the extension to .PSP and use 'Tube-Ex' (linked to on the home page) to convert them easily to .PNG for any graphic program use. Link in my sig.

      That is absolutely adorable.

Now can someone set up a script that will make postcard squeeze pages? Add a way for someone to upload a picture for the back of the postcard, and then a way for those to display on a site.

      I will buy it.

The pictures can display on a single web page that works like a blog, and the latest ones will pile on top of the old ones. It needs to have a quick editor in case someone sends a pic that is too racy.

Then when a noob gets their first site up, they get to add a link on their postcard, or send a new one on a Postcard Success site - for a dollar.

I would take an actual envelope graphic and stick it in there, as well as resize the stamp so its square.

    Wow.

Thanks to everyone for your comments on this. Maybe I've started something that will definitely increase squeeze page conversions for some of you, and if so, that's great! I'm loving the different ideas for making this really pop, creating some nice eye-candy for visitors.

Some of you designers out there might wanna pay attention here. People are saying they definitely WILL buy this sort of product if you create it. I'd do it, but I'm concentrating in a different direction right now, so I'm leaving the profits to be had to you. Gracious of me, huh?

As for conversions? Well, if you don't tell people NOT to subscribe (like I did) it starts to convert. I have had some sign-ups now. Woohoo!

Anyway, thanks again for everyone's feedback here, and do keep posting your thoughts for those designers who will be working hard to fulfill your wishes on creating new squeeze pages for ya, okay?

    Great Idea!

It would be cool to try it out on a photo realistic type graphic. Like having a real envelope there (with a creased corner and some slight paper damage effect). The text could be a handwritten font too - and the signup box could be positioned as the addressee on the envelope. TO: your eMail: ----------------

    Nice one!

Hey, I don't know if anyone else has seen it but I'm thinking a design like this would work well with ... what's that dude's name? Jason Fladlien? Something like that.
