Is there any way to track the source of clicks to my sales page?

This is not possible with Google Analytics.

Basically, I have about 150 YouTube videos, each video has a link in the description pointing to the sales page of my product.

I'd like to have a way to see which one of these videos perform the best.

Basically I'm looking for exact data:

- How many people viewed my sales page
- Which specific link did they click in order to get there (every single place that I have my sales page link would need to have some sort of unique tracking code)
- How many people clicked on the "checkout" button

I've heard that the "Bitly" service can do this. I was wondering if that's true and if there are other similar services that can do this.

Thanks!

any decent tracking solution will do what you want.

Personally I use Clixtrac, with that I can create the link to any page and then create sub id's for each landing page, traffic source, or in your case youtube video.

This is copied from the Clixtrac site

What are Sub IDs and how do I make use of them?
Sub ID tracking is a professional account feature. Sub ID tracking is very useful for tracking different traffic sources. Normally, you'd need to create a different tracker for each traffic source you want to promote your link on. However, using Sub IDs allows you to create a single tracker and attach variables to the end of it.

For example, if you were promoting a link on twitter.com, you could attach something like "&subid=Twitter" to the end of your tracker. If you were promoting a link on facebook.com, you could attach something like "&subid=Facebook" to the end of your tracker, etc.. Then, simply use our Sub ID stats to view how many clicks and conversions are coming from each of your different traffic sources. It's a great way to know where you should be spending your time and money advertising and which places to avoid in the future.

  • I personally use Clickmagick for all my tracking needs, I am able to place the website link into the system and see where my clicks are coming from, how long they are on my site, if they go through to the sales page and most importantly, if they purchase.

It has been extremely effective in my line of work and I think they even offer a 7 or 14 day trial. I also use other tracking tools which have been crucial in the success of my own online businesses.

    This is great, thank you!

I didn't even know how to search for this stuff in Google. I kept searching for what I was looking for using various search phrases, but nothing was giving me the results I was looking for.

I'll check out both of those services. Thanks!

You can achieve this easily with Google Analytics by using UTM parameters. No 3rd party necessary.

Why don't you use UTM urls? You can track them in Google analytics then

I've learned a lot about this stuff since posting this question. I think I'm going to be going with clickmagick.

I'm not crazy about Google Analytics. It gives me some data, but not exactly what I'm looking for. This clickmagick service seems to be exactly what I need!

    Thanks for all the help!
