Hi

I have previously worked as a Marketing Exec in a broad marketing role and am looking to move into a digital marketing role - I need to prepare a presentation of a campaign outline for how I would plan and run a campaign for a charity to increase event participation. I am going to discuss targeting correct audience, PPC - ad grants, display, social media (youtube, facebook, twitter), SEO - keywords. Am I missing something huge? Im finding it difficult as I dont have experience with these channels so any help would be massively appreciated!!

Thank you

  • I think you have pretty much everything covered. I'd say Facebook is your biggest asset when advertising a local charity event. Creating an event page and sharing it with your friends is a great way to start. Offline marketing (distributing flyers, etc) could also work great.

I don't know the exact date of your event, but SEO takes time. You won't rank for your desired keywords overnight, more like a few months.

  • Hope you are doing good. Before switching to Digital marketing field you already know much about it. You can learn SEO techniques and SMM campaigns & community management from different sources. Lastly, I would like to say, you get real experience only after practically dig into that field under the guidance of your seniors.

  • Targetting local public, your best bet would be social media and make your event go viral by putting in an extra dime on Facebook.

Try it out a couple days and analyze the results.

  • Promoting your charity to increase event participation can include:

    Search Engine Optimization

    Pay Per Click
Organic Traffic Generation through blogs and articles
Organic Directory and Search Engine placements via a website
    Social Media Shout-Outs
    Social Media Fund Raising
    Banner advertising
Offline advertising such as Recycled Leaflet distribution
    Mailing systems
    Solo Ads
    Traffic Exchanges

Highlighting your fund raising skills and qualities can be free or paid depending on whether there is a budget for marketing the awareness of the charity event but over time there is a lot that you can achieve for free.

  • You covered everything perfectly, there is a need just one thing while setting the audience just take a look at your market. where you targeting is this really related to you. And try to work more SEO this will show a long-time asset.
  • 5 steps to plan your digital campaigns.

    1. Plan your campaign goals (SMART)
    2. Profiler your target audience
    3. Write custom messages
    4. Choosing advertising placement channels
    5. Be flexible in your budget planning
  • Facebook is 800 lb guerilla. Uncle sam, aunt suzy; next door neighbour joe; cousin pam everybody is on it. To reach your target audience ; you need to know demographic profile: Age, gender, geo, income , jobs and pair them with interest cluster. For e.g. tatoo interest cluster could be tatoo, body art, body piercing, tatoo magazines.

  • It is good that you are targeting the local market. It saves you from using advanced marketing tools like SEO. Facebook and Instagram will do it for you. Also, consider using traditional media like newspapers, radio, and TV.
  • For local area. Facebook is the best way.
  • The above mention by you looks great, before anything else, think about your audience. Who are they? then you can prepare your plan to target them. For example if the event is local then no point advertising it nationally as people may not be able to attend.

Depending budget, in terms of channels use both online and offline. Online including PPC, Social Media and for offline include flyers, magazine inserts.

    Good luck
