Ideas on how to build up a comic blog

Need some advice for traffic generation for a site like this and how would it perform in regards to SEO.

I want to release at least one chapter a week on this site.

Monetization Methods: Should I use a paywall or Google Adsense?

I do not want it to look like a typical webcomic that you see. Instead, I prefer it to be more of a graphic novel that's written in a blog post format. There will be pictures utilized, but it will not be structured the way it is in a typical webcomic. Any advice would be appreciated.

Use your "blog" more like a traditional CMS to store your developing manuscript for your eventual ecomic/storybook - use youtube video for effect (and an extra monetization access product, btw). Make your site a membership site allowing only snippets of each "post" to be public and the rest of each post behind a paywall.

Once all of your book is finished, convert into a pdf / kindle / print versions and sell it on Amazon / ebay / and on your site.

All along the way you have set up automated promotion of your posts, re-tweets and reposts on a schedule using WP plugins, VA promotion, and so on, set and forget then move on to your next project.

After each website/ebook project is complete, you should only have to occasionally refocus on the website for promotion and refresh targeted traffic to it - the goal is to have the website act as an automatic funnel selling full post access via membership plan and your complete book to incoming traffic perpetually. This is what is called a "money-machine".

Why set up a paywall if I only using the blog as a rough draft?

See what theoatmeal.com does and do something similar. No reason to reinvent the wheel, he's shown his business model is the way to go when it comes to self-publishing comics online. The creator makes $500k/yr with his online comic blog/site.

Hmmm. If is new website I don't think Google Adsense will give you good income. Google Adsense is good for many micro niche blog.

I suggest create a merchandise would profit more. If you are willing to take out some capital, try Facebook ads or Instagram ads.

If you wanna go for free way, then build your social presence on Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest. If you don't know how then go and learn. If have to choose one, I suggest learn how to promote on Instagram first.

Another one good way, you can consider recording the process of drawing your comic and upload to video platform like YouTube. Do it consistently and put in heart and soul, based on my experience around 6 months should have some result

    Good luck.

    Cheers!

I support setting up a paywall where you give a synopsis of the details. Anyone interested in reading it could access the whole blog after making some payment.
