I understand your frustrations in trying to find clients.

If you are looking for sales people that wont cost you too much you can try posting your job on freelance sites such as freelancer.com, upwork.com, guru.com. There are a lot more you can try but these are the main ones.

Another thing you could try is actually going to local businesses and simply asking them if they have a website already. If not you can offer to create them one for less. This might be difficult but just to start you can charge way less for your first few clients just to get the ball rolling. Businesss owners like to talk and once you do this a few more times, word may go around about your web design services.

My brother marketing is not rocket science. They are the simple things we do every day including what you have done today- starting this thread. The problem is that it takes time. so you need to remain patient.

You can find sales people on indeed.com or sites like fiver and upwork.


Do you know how to tell a good one from an average or bad one?


Other ways that are faster than what you are doing:
buy ads.


Or look on craiglist and such places for people who are looking for web designers.


Partner with someone who's selling your client base something already.


Do you know anyone who sells any marketing (but not web design)?


You can click on ads on Google or facebook and see if they have a site or if the site they have needs improvement. The ones who advertise but do not have a site would need to be convinced they need one. Hard job. The ones who advertise but have a flawed site, would be easier to convince to upgrade.


Pick an industry and place an ad in one of their newsletters, magazines, etc.


Do SEO. Will take time but it is faster than what you're doing now.

Had the same situation i fixed by sending cold email, now i have more clients that i can handle (seriously, i often drop clients because i'm too busy, feel bad for other webdesigner in need of work but it's life..)

So easy solution, blast 100 cold email daily and that will be fixed

you can start from freelancing platforms, you should also have a portfolio of your works, participate in online forums, let people see you solving problems related to your niche and build a presence on social media.

If you start blogging it will take a lot of time but at the same time if you do social work. that is great. Join some facebook groups and help people,join LinkedIn,pinterest, quora, etc. and give the solutions and help people for free. 1: Where can I find this salesman?
In the mirror. Nobody will be a better salesman than you. That should be your mindset. You should know how every single thing, every single element, every single div tag works. Know everything you offer and know everything the competition offers. Know your downfalls and know their downfalls.

For example: Someone asks me how cheap I am. Hell NO I'm not cheap! I tell them this. I tell them if they want CHEAP then I should leave right now. Because I bring to the table nothing that is cheap. I build superior quality websites that convert, but you're gonna pay, and if you don't want to that's fine."

Because you want to escape the people that are cheap as fast as possible. That's why you make such kickass websites.

Those two things will make you different. Because there are so many crappy digital marketing companies out there that they're really easy to crush.

2: Can you think of a more scalable marketing strategy? I don't have time for waiting for google.
Make badass websites that speak volumes about the type of person you are and the type of quality you produce, and the ROI that they get. There is a fine line though, you want to make badass sites, but your main and ONLY focus when it comes down to it is that your site does whatever they want it to do. It sells, gets leads, generates business, makes them money (that's what they want most of the time).

Do NOT use WordPress or any web builder.

Because there are two ways you can go about it.

1: Sure, you can use WordPress or a web builder to make sites. Because then it doesn't take as long!

But then what can you do that they can't do themselves? Not to mention, how are you going to defend your service if you're pitted up against someone like me? When someone says "I have a WodPress site" I say "do you have about 10 minutes? Mind if I test some stuff on your site?", "sure go ahead" Ten minutes later I show them their username and password. That's how you take someone from unmotivated to a totally new level of motivation they hardly ever experience.

WordPress sites are pure evil. People, and companies are using it as a platform for their websites, and it's not meant for that. WordPress is a BLOGGING platform. It's not a corporation website insta creator lmao.

Every plugin, every modification that is done to WordPress leaves it open to vulnerabilities. The fact that there are actually 'security plugins' is actually hilarious. Because the plugin itself, by definition, creates another vulnerability.

Show me a WordPress site, and I'll show you a way to get into it. They're a hackers dream and a owners (and anyone that visits) nightmare.

As a developer the things above come as by-products from just understanding how things work. Because you should be curious, wonder how things work, and try to figure things out. If you're saying that you don't have time to wait for Google, you should probably start looking for another way to make money if you don't have a stellar website setup with a mind blowing portfolio.

Because what that tells me (if I was hiring someone) is that you have no idea how the backend of a site works.

Nobody is going to pay you to create a site (that's not a sucker) when that's your url.

You're young. You got time to learn. Learn properly, and you'll crush it later on. There's no need to try to cheat the system at your age. You've literally got access to any information you could ever hope for.

Here's how you should go about it (cliff notes). This is how I started:
1. Download Visual Studio Code
2. Bookmark w3schools.com because you'll be spending a lot of time there.
3. Tell your family and friends that you're doing web development and design (even if you've barely done any of it. Because you need to plant the seed, and it'll subconsciously force you to commit to learning how to do the stuff because they MIGHT ask you to do something). Tell them you'll make a site for them for $250, and you need to charge them every dime of that.
4. Ditch your friends, ditch your girlfriend and focus on learning your craft. Create websites. Give yourself a challenge. Even if it's just 'launch a website that just says 'HELLO' in the center of it. You'll still feel proud that the entire world could see that and you made the entire backend happen.
5. A friend or family member will ask you to make a site, and you'll (internally) be like 'AW FKKKKKK I don't know how to do that!' Just do it. Say 'ok, got it.' and do research and find out how to make it happen. This is where all your learning happens.
6. After you do three or four of those. Your price skyrockets. When I started I did one site for $250 then I did a site for $400 then I did one for $1000 then I did one for $12,355. That's literally how I started. I did four sites and you can see the price difference between my first and my last. The time-frame was probably about 8 months. Every site you make determines your next price. You're pricing yourself, and you're proving your value. It's just like art. Prior purchase price heavily influences current price.
