I have read with interest here marketers complain about how people buy their product never open it or implement and then complain.
I have also read newbies/consumers complain about marketers too.
I don't think anything has ever been solved by people sniping at each other so I have a question. Or as we used to say in my last job, "No problems only solutions."
Anyway I was watching a video of someone who said his customers over 40 preferred a cd or dvd while his under 40 wanted mp3 downloads instead.
That got me to thinking...
The computer in it's present form (PC) has only been around about 15 years. That puts the upper age limit that the people who would have used a computer in school at about 35 now.
Before that in the "good ole' days" we paid dearly for communication. I remember two-party telephone lines. Snail mail. Musicans were the only people who knew much about audio files. I was taught the value of work, a good work record and credit. Anyway all I'm saying here is that I grew up around a different environment than those of say the last 15 years has and no I don't mean to say that the people who are younger value those things less.
The human body, the brain included are very efficent at conserving energy. An eampxle is taht I can wirte tihs stennce and as lnog as the frsit and lsat lteers are rgiht you can raed waht I wirte. But that's only true if you understand English.
A point of reference. I think it's called unconscious competence.
What I wondered is do you marketers that sell MMO products see a difference in success rates that correlates to that digital divide at about age 40? Or did I "read" too much in a 30 second blurb?
