I'm dead serious with my headline!.

If an Old Geezer like me can do it, I'm comfortable in saying almost everyone that is a member of this Forum, can do it.

Please know right upfront, that I did not do this overnight, it took hard work, focus and dedication to providing value to my customers, time after time after time. However, I didn't reach these important steps without a lot of mistakes, blown money and then a fellow Warrior kicking my butt up between my shoulder blades.

That butt kicking was primarily based on me not taking action, trying to get rich overnight, not setting up a long term business and failure to focus on one step at a time. Getting each step right, then moving onto the next step. Let's face it! You cannot make a consistent daily income without building your business step by step.

After getting my focus pointed in the right direction, my mentor held me accountable to him and forced me to be accountable to myself for my lack of action and then for my actions taken. I cannot stress this point of taking action, strongly enough. You must do it are you will not make any money and that is the name of the game.

As I began too focus, I tried to make sure I did something each and every day that would help me grow my business and make a sustainable profit. Think about it when you do grow your business on the Internet you will build your list

That's right a list. I can hear you groaning right now, well get over it. It is essential for you to do this. Even in the offline world business people work very hard at building their customer base. Why? Because these are the same people that will come back to their business time and time again. Please grasp the thought that it takes a lot less time and effort to sale to a satisfied customer, than it does to go out and find a brand new one. (Been there, Done that)

Once you get your list you must take the time to furnish them with products of value. If you send them junk offers or build your own junkie product, you can forget it. And it doesn't take but one junkie product to kill the trust you have worked so hard to build.

Another step I took was to learn how to outsource some of my work so I could leverage my time. However, I didn't do this until I was bringing in enough income from my own work to afford it. Please be sure you can afford to do this before you try it. It's a great and proven resource but can get expensive if you don't stay on top of it. (Ask me I'll tell you all about it)

Please don't be discouraged that you will have to work to make money on the internet. Don't be discouraged that you have taken action but not made a penny (Again I have been there and done that). Every failure is one step closer to your goal. Let me throw a question at you here though. "Did you really do everything you could to make your action succeed?" See there is the accountability factor again.

I sincerely hope at least one warrior will take some encouragement and inspiration from this post. Hold yourself accountable for what you do and move forward.

DISCLAIMER: I do not make $1000.00 every day, but when it happens there is no better feeling to see your work and dedication pay off. Also please know it's not all about the money, but the satisfaction of knowing you are providing true value to your customers.

Thanks for taking the time to hear me out.

Work is the key here, yep we can set our own limits.. and it is so rewarding to see our hard work pay off.

From what I gather, a lot of newbies do have trouble focusing and sticking to one plan.

It's possible to keep many plates spinning but you must get that first one in motion before moving on.

It can be hard work, but it really does beat working 9-5 in an office or having a boss. Worth the effort.

Strategic action is key unless you know what you're doing and can afford to outsource everything possible.

Lots of people are not full time so they need to make the best of their couple hours each night and the weekends.

Ask yourself, is what I'm doing now getting me closer to my goals??

A proven online business model and strategic action is key to success.

I appreciate you agreeing with me, Mr. Rocky Balboa, but I'm quite curious if you totally agree then you say "Only hard work does not help" So you don't totally agree, is that right?

Outsourcing is a tool and a very effective tool. If you have capital to invest in this tool, when first starting out then go for it. However if you don't work hard, too know your business, how do you tell your outsources what to do and then know if they do it right. Just food for additional thought here.

These are great posts that will lead to success. The main problem I had starting out years ago was realizing what was action and what was just being busy. Michael you sly old dog, I think the idea of George using your affiliate link is superb and shows true visionary thinking on your part. George you must be working on this already and if so I'm holding you accountable for everyone making money and having the satisfaction to know we really did create true value.

Sergio, remember when I talked about accountability. Well I'm holding you accountable to this thread for you taking action. However, if you have time to talk about starting your list next week, why couldn't you start working on your list today. Now see what happens when someone else holds you accountable.

Louise: It's possible to keep many plates spinning but you must get that first one in motion before moving on.
Excellent point! And let's face it many of us are guilty of throwing the plates up in the air and then let them crash around us. Again folks getting the first step working for you and then moving to the 2nd is paramount in your business plan.

I'm remembering back when I started making a little money. I kept wanting and trying jump out there and rush my business. Thank the Lord for my mentor, who kept saying "Ken, be patient. Remember, your going for long term success, not just a quick buck."

There is one thing I forgot to mention in the Original Post and that is I offered a valuable service to my customer base. The great thing is much of the service is on a recurring monthly payment plan to me.

The main problem I had starting out years ago was realizing what was action and what was just being busy. I was always busy getting ready and getting things perfect but not making any money.
William you could not have made a truer statement. Folks you have to wake up and smell the roses, when it comes to taking action. Busy work that little small stuff of reading post on the forum, checking your PayPal account every 5 minutes (Who me? :p) checking e-mail every time it makes a noise. In other words you have to separate the chaff from the wheat.

One of the ways to do that is to set daily goals and a time to do them. Once you have accomplished your goals for the day then go do the "busy stuff". You will truly be amazed how your business and profit will grow.

Now I know the work has to be done . While this can be outsourced ... the thing that makes this gentleman's business a success can't be .

Just as his post offered genuine value , he is offering this same value to his list members .

There is a big difference in a series of short money making ventures and a long term business venture that is focused on end user satisfaction .

I would almost bet you Mr. Leatherman would refuse to promote more products to his list than he accepts . There seems to be a realization that a quick dollar product would lose a lot of dollars down the road .

This is something I had to learn the hard way . Only when I figured out the art of truly giving more than I expected to receive did I start to see a predictable , constant money flow coming in .

I've only just come across this thread, but what a ridiculously awesome post. The concept of making money online is in fact extremely simple. But when it comes to implementation us so-called "marketers" often get distracted by the next best guru promotions and home study courses alike.

The truth is, if you spend all your time reading up on courses you're not growing your knowledge at all. In fact, you're just overloading your brain with another ton of information that it cannot possibly process.

Find something you like doing. Be it writing, guru promotions, building a list, affiliate marketing, review sites... what the heck, it doesn't matter! Just work at it and work at it and keep chipping away at that big piece of rock in front of you until you make it work.

Don't try and become an expert overnight. What's the point in reading all those courses when you really don't need to do so to make more money? It will simply confuse you. Many people accuse the "gurus" of causing them information overload. I suppose it's partly true and they could be held accountable in a way for all the promotions they send out of affiliate products...

But at the end of the day, that's their way of making money. Some are more concerned about their customers than others - it's life! The point I'm trying to make here is don't accuse others for your innability to focus solely on one thing and take action on it. You're the one who buys these courses after all...

    Best of luck to everyone!

      Hey DubC,

You know we need to expand on that thought a little.

Frankly, I believe one of the main reasons we don't take action is the "fear of the unknown". Think about it for a moment. Remember the first time you applied for a job. You were scared to death to make the initial step of filling out that application, writing the resume, making that phone call, etc.

But you did it anyway! Because if you wanted to eat, have a roof over your head and support your family it had to be done. And that is precisely what has to be done when taking action in IM.

You have to reach inside of you and overcome that initial fear of stepping out of your comfort zone.

In fact you have already stepped out of your comfort zone, if your reading this and other threads in the WF. Congratulations ! You are taking action. You are teaching yourself. So don't tell me you can't reach down to your boot straps and take a 2nd action step. Then another one and then another one.

Once again I have to stress focus on taking it one step at a time. Get that first step right, then move to the 2nd one.

    Hi Ken
Great post.I hope it'll provide huge boost to the newbies.
Like you,I also suffered for months not concentrating on a single project. What I do now is to write my daily action plan on a paper and follow it religiously.
The nature of IM is that if you are not focused, you'll be pulled in hundreds of direction and at the end of day have nothing accomplished.

When you begin your IM career, you should try and test one income opportunity at a time: be it product creation, affiliate marketing,eBay selling,CPA,site flipping or Adsense.Allow enough time to produce it results. If it is profitable then re-invest a part of your profits in it(Outsourcing is the biggest factor separating a five figure business to a seven figure business. You can't accomplish everything yourself). If it is showing negative returns then try to make some changes and see if it is profitable. If not then move on to the next things.

Each one of the above mentioned opportunities can make you sufficient amount of money but you have to test everything yourself to see if it'll work for you.You shouldn't start more than one project in the beginning.Just focus on one thing. You'll be able to do multitasking once you gain some experience.

Your main focus in the beginning should be to start generating some stable income.Once you start seeing some steady income, assign some time to new projects. You'll soon have multiple income streams making you money on autopilot.

This really is inspiring! I'm brand new at this (a few weeks) and have felt completely overwhelmed at times! Knowing that there are people that succeed at this regularly (that's the impression I'm getting) allows for me to reserve more and more hope. This is a wonderful place for the beginner. A plethora of knowledge to be had for free! That's the word I like best!
Now if I can only stay online a bit longer before my wife throws my computer in the river, I may succeed yet!

      Hi,

I don't want Ken's Secret Twists of Geezerology. I just want that adorable puppy from his posts.

    Great post Ken,

it really is all about getting back to the basics of business building, having a plan and then acting on that plan.

You hit the nail on the head about being accountable to yourself to make it work and that we really do only get out what we're willing to put in, there is no magic push button business that requires zero effort and I think the sooner people realize it, the quicker they will see the success that has been eluding them.

Honestly, some people think you only need to add water to a system to make money but it's that universal principle of work that will always apply no matter what you do or aim to achieve in life.
