Domains Question: Godaddy $5 Domains..What is The Catch?

As being involved in a bunch of projects right now, I'm spending a long time these days searching for good aged domain names.

I bought a domain lately from NameJet for $70, it's a good 3 years, 2 words domain, and I was happy with it until I browsed Godaddy's $5 list!

Holy Crap!

There are a bunch of great aged domains there you can grab instantly for $5!!!

I regret paying $70 now to NameJet, but I'm a little concerned about these cheap domains on Godaddy..

Do these domains keep its records? i.e., if I got a domain that has been registered by 2006, will this stay the same on the whois records (which is the case with the pre-released $70 domains on NameJet), or a new record is started for the domain?

Is there any problem with these domains ?(being blacklisted, found on a bad IP..etc), or it's just a God sent opportunity for humble marketers?

ANy experience with this type of domains?

Feedback is really appreciated..

The domains haven't been dropped yet so they'll retain their age, but from what I understand it takes about a week to transfer during which time the domain owner could renew.

I'd do a search for the domain name (abc.com) to see if it's indexed in Google, if it's not there at the top it may have been banned.

      PR? that's another story. (freshdrop.net)

You can find these $5 domain on GoDaddy's auction site www.tdnam.com

The cost is actually $5 plus registration... so a little less than $15 each.

I buy a couple of these domains every month and they have all kept their age.

It is also a good idea to check the domain with www.Archive.org to see what - if anything - was on the site previously.
