So you've decided to venture into internet marketing to reach more customers, and essentially earn more money. But you have no idea what "SEO" or "socmed" even means, and you are still grasping to understand the facets of Facebook for Business. This guide will at least help you draft your strategic internet marketing plan.

Create a social profile if you don't have one

This is the first essential step - create your business's social profile. By all means of course you already have a personal Facebook page which to link your business profile, and you can learn more about creating one by going to Facebook Help: https://www.facebook.com/business/pages/set-up

You can worry about creating accounts for other networks (Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) later.

Study the competition

Look up your competition on Google, and their name should popped up. If they have a website, open it and study the content. Jot down your observations, and could be anything from "why is their website banner pixelated" to "what content management system are they using".

Create a Google Analytics accounts

Google Analytics allows you to track whatever traffic that's coming into your web assets - i.e. website and social media accounts. Analytics is crucial too because it allows you to quantify, for example, your page's bounce rates, and use the data to strategise and improve your content.

Write down your goals

Sounds cliche, but ultimately, you need to set both your short- and long-term goals. What do you want to achieve tomorrow? How do you translate page clicks into sales? How do you boost visitor retention on your website?

Write a blog

Blogging is a strategy used by many marketers to get more brand visibility, and help drive traffic to your website. It's also a way to tell stories to your customers - and talking from personal experience, blogging isn't just about hard-selling your product. Blogging also helps your brand gain trust and credibility.

    Great share!

I will add in some points hope will help the new guys.

    Research your competitor's traffic sources.
Find out where most of your competitor traffic sources coming from. Use websites like alexa.com or similarweb.com which I often used, the free version is good enough for you to gather lots of data. Once you know what is their main traffic source, take advantage of it, because there are your audience too. The source can be a forum, feed website, news website or other types of websites that you never thought of.

    Take advantage of PLR content!
I am not a good blogger, and I always lack content to write on my blog. There are so many free PLR articles out there for you to download. This will help most of you if you are like me not good with content creation. This will give a good boost to start off as a blogger. BUT! remember to rephrase the article, don't copy and paste it.

    Content creation tips
So how do you know what problem your audience is facing? You can check out the forums! Forum is the best place for you to find what are your audience problem. Check out what are your audience asking or need help with.

Check out the magazine for the best headline title
Magazines are one of my best headline resource tools. The magazine company spend millions of dollar on marketing and optimizing. Definitely, there will spend time and money to optimize their headline. You can find thousands of headlines just by Google search "Niche magazine cover page", then go images and BOOM!

    Hope these points help
    Cheers!!!

Setting your goal is very underrated. Jim Rohn, the influential motivation speaker said it nicely, why you need to set your goals ," You need to set your goals - why? For what you will need to become to achieve that goal." You have set a goal to earn million dollars and you are earning say $15- $20k. In order to earn million dollars you will need to do things differently in other words you'd need to become different person. Change your mindset. If you keep doing things the way you have been doing you'lyou'll achieve the same results and no-more.

Good piece of information. Since, the post is meant for newbie, I wish to add few points which are not covered above.

Though SEO tools,Social media profiles etc are important, the most important aspect above all is content. Matters not you are learning Internet Marketing or trying your fate with PPC, you need to understand nothing is possible without quality content.

Gone are the days when one article was submitted to hundreds of directories. Today, you need to rely on quality work. Make use of plagiarism free articles, make best use of LSI keywords and Long tail keywords, have to go for guest blogging and so on.

    Great pointers in this thread.

    I would add:

1.Target people who are hungry and interested in your topic.

2.Create an asset that you can leverage.

    An asset can be:
    - an email list
    - a fb / tracking pixel that you can create an audience from
    - fb page/group with followers/users you can target
    - postal addresses of interested people
    - phone numbers
    - sms-txt message lists

This means that you can get your offers/affiliate links in front of these people's eyes cheaper than buying cold traffic.
