More Fun With Privacy Acronyms - CCPA

Hey,

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) is a new data privacy law that applies to certain businesses that collect personal information from California residents. The new law goes into effect on January 1, 2020.

Will this affect your business?

How many different "Acts" can one Internet withstand?

Does anyone even care, beyond "law-makers" that is?

I think I'm going fishin' !

I'm curious to see how they are going to enforce it.
Most people usually default to the most reasonably stringent standard, from that standpoint I would assume the CA resident law would fall within reasonable parameters or it will be easily argued in court, CA gets sued and then the law gets changed.

I acquire 3rd party email data. I'm just going to drop any CA data.

    Not really a big deal.

I got an update from Google. That's the only way I even knew about it. Apparently they are making some changes.

I just wonder if enough people are really impacted or if the aforementioned "law-makers" are just trying to appear "concerned."

What's the future of the Internet? Segmented by 100s of different region-specific laws?

    It's a can of worms.
