Conversion Optimisation

Hey folks, hope you are having a pleasant day.

I have quite alot of traffic coming to a blog i have which has various affiliate banners. I have been reading about Conversion Optimisation in which optimising your website can convert more of the traffic that is potentially leaving your site without interacting with it. Such as following you on Facebook, clicking through to an affiliate banner etc.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to optimise a website to ensure people interact more with it. Whether it is a product or service business please, without putting up your prices etc? Any advice on this i would be very grateful for. Thanks again for all your advice and i can honestly say this is the best forum i have been part of, with so much great advice and great people.

Do you mean changing the price - or not listing it at all.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

Are no visitors clicking your banners? What's your bounce rate?

The easiest way to begin in your case is to install a pop-up capability in your website.

Don't make it anti-user (by making them show up less than 3 seconds after someone enters your website) and you'll have a good method of ensuring your audience performs the action you want.

I use pop-ups in my website to capture e-mail leads, and they're set up to show up after 20 seconds.
It has been working great so far, because my conversion rate went up 25% overnight with pop-ups.

Most people have banner blindness these days. Embedding contextual links to affiliate sites in articles/reviews usually is a better way of getting them to click them.

You're better off using a popup to generate leads then sell them your offer through email.

Hello, I think the easiest way to get visitors engaged is to offer great content. You should be using content in different forms like Articles, Infographics, Images, Videos, Podcasts, etc. Use a variety of content from these types.

Apart from this, also use small free give up on your website which will make people stay on your website and even subscribe to your newsletters as well.

Adding to that, you can put exit-intent popup which will offer a discount/coupon to the user who is exiting without interacting with your website. In this way, you can make people interact with your website and your bounce rate will come down. This will help you to grow your business as well as you will get potential subscribers for your email marketing campaign very easily.

Hope this advice will be helpful to you and other forum members as it can directly help you to grow your business.

There are many ways you can go about increasing interaction on your site. For example, you can use a site chatbot, which will greet the visitor when he lands on the site, and allow him to ask questions. You can also add an exit pop up to the site, notifying people of a deal/promotion that you're running.

    An interesting topic...

I am a firm believer in the one page one purpose philosophy. Meaning if you are writing a piece of content to sell a Red Widget, that page and all of its surrounding elements should relate to "Red Widgets".

As you ad elements that are advertising this that and the other.. you are diluting the effect of the page, and in general the end result is lack of clicking on the links you want clicked, or as has been mentioned a bounce.

A FIX ALL for this would be the pop up approach. Sure it can be effective... however if your overall content and context of the site is ll over the place its more akin to shooting a shotgun in the ocean hoping to get a fish.

You obviously want to be shooting a shotgun in a barrel where your chances are greatly increased.

Conversion Optimization in conjunction with one page, one purpose can get you on the path of shotgun and a barrel. Here is an article that explains many of the things that are tested in a affiliate type environment with Conversion Optimization ( https://voluum.com/blog/ab-testing-i...ate-marketing/ )

The one thing that should stand out for you is how they are specifically testing one element at a time... So its not like you would be testing the page as a whole as it would be testing the title... or a specific ad... or the placement of an ad... etc etc.

If you are familiar with Google Analytics you might be happy to find out that they offer a free tool that can assist you with A/B testing ( Conversion Optimization ) https://support.google.com/optimize/.../6211930?hl=en There is more than enough tutorials on the subject to get you up to speed with its use and usefulness.

    Hope that Helps!

It is all about relevancy. You need to make sure the content, links, buttons or images are relevant to your visitors, then they will also engage with it.
Best way to find out the relevancy of your content is to look at your data. What is your bounce rate, time on page, click through rate on affiliate links and finally your sale conversion rate.
You can start AB-testing with tools like Optimize and compare the performances. This way you can improve your website step by step.
Once you are happy with your bounce rate, time on page and affiliate link click through rates, you can start to think about sale conversion optimisation.
With proper tracking you will get the insights you need to optimise your content in order to increase your conversion rates.
