Should I be suspicious of an affiliate who refuses to get paid by PayPal?

Hi folks -- I have someone who wants to sign up to my affiliate program but refuses to get paid by PayPal (that's easier for me as it's less admin).

I guess I don't mind paying him to his bank if he's making sales but I just wondered, should I be suspicious? Are there any scams that people posing as affiliates can pull?

    It could be one of 2 things... they got banned from using PayPal OR they live in a country where PayPal is not available.

    Contrary to AGM's opinion here, I would bend ever so little. who knows this could be the persons on the other end big break and he may sell the crap out of your product.

    I would think it depends on what you are willing to do - do you have a threshhold to meet before payment? How long after a sale are commissions paid?


    Do you pay immediately or pay twice a month or once a month? There are people who have lost paypal accts or in countries where full paypal options are not available. Sending a physical check once or twice a month would be one option - personally, I would not do direct bank deposits. The check would offer a 'non-paypal' option if that's what the person really wants.



    Exception: If this person has a provable track record of affiliate sales, you might work with him. My guess is that is not the case.

    I wouldn't want to be paid by PayPal. They would charge a fee.

    I've always been paid via ACH and it costs zero to receive.

    Actually, a lot of marketers have mixed feelings about Paypal

    As a program owner, I suggest you offer a more diverse payout system so you can attract potentially bigger and more productive affiliates

    As the affiliate program advertiser you should have options open when it comes to payment processors and relying only on Paypal is one of the most stupidest things one can do!

    Hi, hi. I honestly don't think so coz perhaps they prefer the money to be received more instantaneously and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. If you were to ask me, I would prefer my paycheck to be banked into my bank than to go to Paypal and to go through the hassle to get the money transferred from Paypal to my bank.

    I am not sure but I believe there is a minimum amount that one has to have in the PayPal account before it can be cashed out....

    There can't be always the case of fraud..i know few good affiliate they don't like paypal because of their too much hold/catch policy. Although it is good for safety for all who use paypal but here is main problem with paypal. If you get one dispute...paypal will start keeping eye on you for next 6 month.Specially for big amount like $500+++

    Anytime they may hold payment for 14 days or 72 hrs and so so...Since affiliate spend on advertising they may need cash flow, so they want money fast. This may be another reason why they don't wann paypal.

    I think you're choosing the right path paying them after the guarantee period is over. You never know, you taking a chance on them could end up being worth thousands in profit if they're a good affiliate.

    I guess you can consider me one of those affiliates.

    My PayPal got shut down as I was running an affiliate program and had to deal with mass payments on a weekly basis.

    Either way, since my PayPal got shut down, I always preferred to get paid directly to my bank.

    So I guess to answer your question, no I don't think affiliates who rather get paid other methods besides PayPal are frauds. That being said, just hold the commissions until the refund period is over.

    first of all how are the leads and conversions. Maybe he doesn't like the paypal fees on his end. I opt to get paid by bank myself as there are no fees involved. There shouldn't be any suspicion as long as the leads are good.

    I'm not surprised that some people don't like PayPal. But at the same time you have the full right to tell them too bad. It depends on if they are worth the extra hassle.

    Seems fishy to me.

    Pay them with PayPal and if he/she doesn't want that then too bad.

    You don't need them as an affiliate.

    If your planning to pay him for his work in advance then Paypal will be a best option because worst case if he doesn't meet your requirement then you can request of refund.

    But if he/she asking you to pay after work done then you can consider his/her request to pay because your work is already done.
