Stop, Thief! (Really cool tip from Frank Kern)...

Hey everyone,

So, I just gotta say that I think Frank Kern is a great marketer, and I really value a lot of the stuff he teaches.

I know everyone has their own opinions on the so-called "IM Gurus" but the copywriting tips I just learned about on Frank's blog are just killer.

These copywriting tips can be used for sales letters, e-mails, and just about anything...and this stuff can help you no matter what level of IM you are at right now.

Here's the link, I highly suggest that you check it out. It could really make a difference in your business.

Yea, I didn't really plan on using that subject line for any of my e-mails. I was just trying to share some good info.

In fact, before I send out an e-mail I write 10 unique e-mail subject lines that are typically just ridiculous haha. I try to make people get excited or curious to open the e-mails. Anyways, whatever I'm doing is working so I'm going to keep doing it.

But you're def right, copy/paste business never really works too well.

I have read some of the authors that he recommends to read to emulate the style. It is not easy. Most people that don't write well, will not even see what he is talking about.

I have seen that if you are a midget, you can only see someone's knee well. and you think that they are almost as short as you. Which means, that being able to see, perceive, comprehend good writing is as rare as good writing.

Frank is lucky: he has the gift of words...

And most importantly, he is not talking mainly about headlines, or subject lines: he means the whole shabang of writing, the body of all your emails, all your communication. Because you can't just come up with one email that is different... your whole branding needs to stay in "style".

So all in all, take it with caution. If you have no commitment to stick with a style, don't even start.

Frank brings up some great points in this video. Key amongst them is something he implied but didn't actually say...SUCCESS LEAVES CLUES.

Just like the novel authors he mentions it's the same with successful copywriters, screen writers, infomercial script writers, etc. They develop a winning formula through testing over time that becomes their "style" and they stick with it.

As Mavensophie mentions in her post above it isn't always easy to uncover, understand or emulate this stuff. It takes work and you have to really want to do it.

For copywriting, the best way I've found to dissect, learn and truly understand stuff written by others is to manually write out the ads, scripts and sales letters of the "masters." It's painful and time consuming but the rewards are worth it, IMHO.

Do this 10 times each for a few sales letters of guys like Gary Halbert, Clayton Makepeace, Gary Bencievega, etc. and watch what happens when you sit down to write a sales letter or video script for your next product or affiliate promotion. I guarantee you'll see massive improvement.

Wow, imagine that. Studying writers/storytellers makes for good writing and good selling. Huh. What a concept.

Suppose that doesn't hurt. Now that I think on it, the concept of having slam-bang beginning, a compelling and moving middle that leads urgently toward a logical and satisfying ending probably would work for sales copy.

Wait. I think it's already set up that way, only copywriters call it something else. AIDA. Yeah, that's it. I wrote an article on this once, but I've misplaced it. Drat. Now would be the perfect time to put it on my blog, dontcha think?

Anyway, yeah. Frank (and his message to study selling writing if you want to write to sell) is cool. Thanks for sharing the video.

  • The video is brilliant not because of its tutorial contents (there is NONE on it, let's be honest), but because Frank manages to subtly toss his Mass Control in without making it a blatant self-promotion email (which is what it is in reality). He simply disguised it within an otherwise pretty blah-blah video.

Frank is an amazing marketer: he sells without looking all "salesly".

I must be getting cynical in my old age. The first thing I thought when I read the title was, "I wonder what Frank Kern is launching now".

OK, this time it is the last 148 copies of .......................

Nice profit on this product $2000 x 148.

Gotta admit, though...he's a nice guy. That's the thing...caring for and helping your audience seems to work, doesn't it!

He's not "caring", my friend. He's "promoting" his $2k product. Again, I must repeat: that's why Kern is such an amazing marketer: he markets his stuff without sounding pitchy at all. In my opinion, that's the number one technique to learn from Kern.

yeah he is using the triangle of trust, a very powerful method that I use personally.

It is one of the best things I picked up from frank.

I think it's cool that he is donating 100% of the first round of payments to charity.

I think it's kind of ridiculous how people on this forum "thank" the posts that are negative against other people for no reason lol.

People are so "powerful" when they use a keyboard with a monitor in front of them, rather than their mouth when another person's face is right in front them.

Just an observation of a trend I've seen on this forum, I really think people should think twice before some of the things they post. Whether they're starting a thread or replying to one.

Anyways, just thought I'd share that.
